Robert Heatley Stand / Re: AFL Rd 3 2024 Pre Game Prognostications Carlton vs North Melbourne
Agreed Thry.....if we're serious and on, we should win easily. We still need to learn how to really bury sides when we have the advantage and % could be critical come the pointy end of the season.
Agree on the percentage. For too many years we have been just hoping for a win, now we need a win + the percentage that goes when good sides have good wins.

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: AFL Rd 1 2024 Post Game Prognostications Carlton vs Richmond
I have been pretty happy with Cuningham and Fogarty so far.

These are 2 players I have been very interested in.
I keep waiting for Cunningham to have that really big game but I have been somewhat disappointed so far this year - fingers crossed going forward.
Fogarty I was generally uninterested in 10-12 months ago - I had him well behind Owies, Motlop, small Durdin, and even Cunningham but he is certainly exceeding my expectations - hopefully his good form continues and he does seem to offer more than just the small forward role (which is where I had him playing)

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: Jim Park Voting 2024 AFL Rd 0 Carlton vs Brisbane
It's been interesting to see the team ratings. A number of non A (or A+), including me. This game was as tough as they get - VG opponent, us undermanned and an away game at a ground we really struggle at. Any win in these conditions would typically be an A+.
I tend to think it should be an A+ for easily beating a fully manned good side away but then is there the 'they just had an off day' mindset?
Seems one bad 1/4 and just the 1 point win has had an impact on the team rating.
Seems expectations are already much higher.

Blah-Blah Bar / Re: AI and creativity.
Just had a listen to the new Beatles song "Now and Then"
Lennon's AI generated voice sounds tinny and artificial.
It only resembles the Beatles when the chorus kicks in but even then it's a pretty average song and more reminiscent of Lennon's post Beatles material.

It's still likely to be a hit, but sometimes it's better to leave well enough alone.
I too had a listen. Always an admirer of The Beatles (who isn't)  but not a huge fan (prefer the Stones). My opinion is that 'creating' a new song is better than having it left on an unlistenable cassette but it is hardly a great song.

I was interested to hear the other day 2 Brian Johnson ACDC songs with Bon Scott doing the vocals (via AI). Also a bit tinny sounding I thought but I always way preferred Bon vocals. Where will it end? Maybe me on lead vocals...

I watched a replay and noticed Marchbank always seems to push up to a good position when we are going forward where he can be used by us or cover a turnover. Be happier if he could stick his marks more though!
Agree on the marking - I can see an up and down side to both Marchbank & Kemp but Kemp is very strong and clean overhead. I have really enjoyed that part of his game.

I've done it. Said I'd accept any ticket including standing room nut had a thought they'll shove me there first.  My preference is a good ticket and I'll pay for it.  I'll accept standing room but id rather not.

What are you guys doing?

The advice was to accept any ticket, including standing. Surely priority 1 members, me included :-) , will get a seat... surely... as I look towards the heavens...

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: The rise and RISE of Marc Pittonet
Personal opinion....
Most posts here are good reading but boy I am getting tired of the discussion around the ruck situation. It's about now I was wishing there was the option to silence this thread.
Imagine if we win the flag, with a particular ruck and midfield setup that dominates, then one of you can sit back and admit that the club made the right decision and we can put this to bed.
Go Blues

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: AFL Rd 17 2023 Post Game Prognostications Carlton vs Fremantle
I was very impressed,  especially early when the game was there to be won, with the slick, in close, ball movement.  Seemed to position well for the receive but importantly they spotted targets and most often hit them.
Often we seem to do the inside flick around as a defensive/panic move but today they seemed to use it to attack.
