1. After sitting through the Adelaide Oval Crows debacle I mentioned the old football coaches cry "pick up your man! When CFC kick out after point score, other teams man us up and put us straight under pressure. We often allowed Brisbane to easily kick short to a player. We did have the same number of players, didn't we?
2. Witches hats when Brisbane had the ball and heading deep into their forward line. Yes our guys do the right and run down there, but then some (like Motlop) seem to be mesmerised, just stand there and don't man up.
Plenty of effort at times , but not well directed.
Sounds like there could have been a reason for TDK's performance.
"A difficult fortnight for axed big man Tom De Koning continued on Saturday when he suffered a concussion and finished with just seven touches, 13 hitouts and one goal in a narrow loss to the Bulldogs. The 23-year-old, who was dropped from the senior side two weeks ago, is out of contract at the end of this season." from "Axed Blue Concussed". AFL
Well L.N - while watching the game last night from top level Adelaide Oval I thought the Lesson 1 should be "Pick up your man" (And then beat him to the ball!) Ab
On the ruckman discussion. Jed Brereton played in a VFL practice match this year to good reports, but doesn't appear to have played VFL matches. Are we interested in him as an AFL prospect? Ab
Would have liked to retain LOB for his hard running and good disposal. Likewise feel TDK gives more flexibility with his marking around the ground and work when the ball hits the ground. cheers Ab
Did you think our small forwards somewhat disorganised last week, particularly earlier in the game? They were competing well, but several times three or more were fighting for the ball and getting in one another's way. Perhaps we need to go with one less small forward.
Williams? Just too big a risk. The heat there will be in next Sunday's game would be a bridge too far for a bloke lacking match fitness.
Quite agree Mr B, will be well short of a run and given history just as likely to limp off. On the other hand Stocker should be better for the run last week. Like many, I think Liam is part of our future.
The player who worried me last week was our ruckman. Good work horse at throw wins, but seemed well behind the speed of the game if the ball was in dispute or in his hands. Hope we play big Tom as 2nd ruck.
