Title: We now can’t do without him!
Post by: townsendcalling on February 05, 2020, 10:55:11 pm
Predict 1 player, who is currently not considered to be in our top 12-14 players and just seems to be making up the numbers, who will be a lock in pick by about Round 12.

I’ll throw one in Matt Cottrell. Is having a full preseason, feedback on him the training has been excellent so far this year, but where he plays and who he displaces....   I have no idea.

Cottrell finished the last VFL season quite strongly, playing primarily off the HBF and / or a variety of tagging roles. His aerobic capacity and overhead marking are beyond most players his size, so when they would drag him to the fall of the ball he won the contest.

Marc Pittonet will take over from Kreuzer in the first 6 rounds and grab the opportunity with both hands.

Tom Williamson if he can stay fit, has more tools than most to get the job done and hopefully still has that  physical approach we lack overall.

I just think it's exciting that 6 different players have already been named!!
Kennedy and Gibbo are 2 for me!

Williamson on the HBF. Loved what I saw in the early games he played. Also, still have an uncomfortable feeling about Docherty and while I love Simpson it would good to see a transition.

Asked for 1, but I’ve got four.

J Silvagni - so creative in the forward half and will get opportunity with Charlie out
Stocker - we lack a lock down back and he may well be our man
Cunningham - pure class , will shock many
Williamson - fingers crossed, powerful, straight line runner, so explosive.

If all 4 fire, top 4 not out of reach.

If the 4 above players stand up, we will be a much more dangerous team. It is unlikely that all of them will come good this season, but the concept appeals to me.

If  those 4 are among our fringe players we're not looking too bad... on paper. ;)
Let's hope Williamson gets a good run of games this year.
I have a feeling our starting lineup in Rd 1 may be significantly different from our Final round starters.
