Robert Heatley Stand / Poll added: Marc Murphy should not be captain
Clearly the club made the wrong call on appointing Marc Murphy captain.

His on field performance has been well below average. From the outside it looks like he isn't a great motivator of his teammates. He has become an opposition target.

Pretty clear last night that Simpson is the spiritual leader on field and has a greater aura than Murphy.

Think we erred in letting Judd stand down. Malthouse should have taken a year to assess the leadership group.

Looks like robbo is cooked. 2nd time dropped in a month.

He'll be on the trade table now

Yep, it's starting to look that way for sure. He'll probably be shopped around at least.
Unless of course he can go away at xmas and learn to effin kick.

I think he's past the learning to kick stage - that usually happens somewhere between 2 and 15

@ Carrots and (the poster formerly known as) LLT

I never said Yarran was better, i said he hasn't gone backwards. His stats show he is better.

I said previously that i think he is essentially the same player he was last year. Brilliant at his best, sooky and disinterested at his worst and overall consistently inconsistent.

Carrots is trying to say he was a star more often than not last year. I'm saying there is negligable difference one way or the others.

If he is about the same, is he more effective as a forward or a defender? Or are we saying he is as effective as a forward as he is a defender?

Absolutely more effective as a defender

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: RD 18 : Blues Scorch Suns (Post-Siren Sunburn)
A few bagging Carrots I didn't think he was awful, I thought he was excellent when he went down back.
I think we all agree that Carrots is nowhere near his best: his decision making on the ball especially is not up to his normal standard. However, he was far from crappy. He managed 25 possessions at the same effectiveness of Murphy (who had 27). After half time he had a job which he did well enough.
I think he still needs a little confidence and more game time to find the form we all love. A couple of weeks back I suggested he might need a week or 2 with the Baby Blues. I think he is past that now - he is getting more ball. He needs a few things to go right, a couple of big wins, to get his confidence back.

Carrazzo cost us at least two goals. His disposal was woeful, only matched by his indecision. Worst game I've seen from him for a while - and he has stunk it up big time in 2013. Reckon he needs some time in the twos to get his confidence back.

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: Rd 19 - Carlton vs Fremantle (Pre Contest Conundrums)
Both Rowe and Casboult have an upside. both will benefit from another full preseason.

I think long term Casboult will have a better career as he tends to mark the ball more regularly than Rowe. Casboult moves ok and can pinch-hit in the ruck at levels equal to or better than Rowe.

Casboult's fitness and understanding of the requirements of AFL level will, improve as he gains more experience.

Can we fix Casboult's kicking? That's the question we need answered because he has Rowe covered in most other facets.
