Title: Rd 18: In Game Attitude: Carlton vs Brisbane
Post by: crashlander on July 22, 2017, 04:44:39 pm
Not looking forward to this. I don't think I'll be able to see any of the game. The 2nd just got done by North Ballarat, who had been winless on the bottom. Brisbane beat us last year, even though they were lower on the ladder.
This bodes poorly.
However, I try to look on the bright side - pick #2 anyone?

Sides have been close, but we are 3 goals down.
Need to be better defensively.

Zorko as he seems to every time have a holiday against us. We are struggling to get hold of the ball. Lions delivery into the forward line just killing us.

Any club struggling for form must beg the AFL to play us, because we reinstate their mojo every single time!

Even at VFL level!

This is our worst quarter of football of the year.

Bolton being outcoached....Zorko without a man just running wild like he always does when we play Brisbane.
Gibbs being well held by Rockliff...our mids dont man up and  Bolton needs to get some mids who will be accountable.
Graham has no left foot and isnt good enough...

Gibbs deal must be done the way he is (not) playing.

We stink. Its fine to not score if you can defend well. Hard when 6 goals go sailing through.

Blow the siren, end this now

Whole team just plodding around while the lions bust the lines and run forward hard.

Déjà vu. So like this game last year. We let them run amuck, then despite a big turn around, lost.
On track for a repeat at best, hiding from bottom placed ream at worst. Can anyone on the field see Zorko???

I have been behind the club all season, because I have seen a level of intensity I have been happy with, despite results.
A few weeks ago it drifted off against the Tigers, last week against the Bulldogs they we consistently harder at the ball and our tackling was abysmal.

Today they look completely uninterested and I am not sure why supporters should be interested when the club obviously is not.

Bolton has told us we will be judged on our intensity, they is great that is what the Hawks used to do before they started winning.

Well on intensity they are absolutely awful.
Harden the hell up.

10-15 more minutes like this and I am going to find something else to do

As I've argued before, they won't get us the picks we need, they are valuable to us not to others.

You cannot post about how dismal they are, then claim they are worth low draft picks!

McKay is looking ok at times when we have the ball.

When they have the ball he is clueless on where to run, who to guard. Showing his obvious inexperience. He needs to do a lot of work in the video room and we should be putting a lot of extra time into him.

BB made the comment that BrisVegas is half a year into a reset and we're 1 1/2 half years into a reset... seems the mentor is giving the rookie coach a lesson.

Their side is younger than ours and their leaders younger than ours... Oh dear. At half time our highest ranked player is H... who's played 2 quarters of senior footy... WTF is going on?

Our defensive setup has been dismantled by Brisbane kicking goals from 50+, our game plan dead and it's a big lesson learned! We don't have players fast enough to keep up or setup anyway!

Unfortunately for us, we don't have players who are capable or willing to kick from 50+!

Our setup is failing because we have too many inexperienced kids playing.
They are still learning the setups and where to go....and when.

Already pointed out Harry looks lost on defensive structures and setups, he's not alone (but being 2m+ tall he does stand out).

While watching a game on a phone is hard going, the defensive style we play is showing its limitations. The last few weeks have shown we can organise when we don't have the ball. But when we gain possession we struggle other than switching. Players seem to look frozen.

Imagine this will change into 2018, but its tough to watch.  Collectively we are clueless.

Might be close to the end for Simpson. His pace has dropped the past month. Hope not. Desperate for more run off half back

Captains who dont get stuck in throw an elbow and hurt the opposition in situations like this and show grunt is not a captain. You need to show this is not acceptable and we dont have anyone capable of doing that. Maybe Kreuzer is close.

Strange game , if we had taken some chances we could have been right in this .
13-7 to 7-13, if we could kick straight we could somehow be in with a chance despite the whole team stinking today

Watch now for the huge finish and fall short by 3 points.

There is no question that we have been awful, but the umpiring is just appalling today.

Agreed, they lost control of the game, there should be a couple of them VFL bound.

Too little too late... but at least we didnt completely roll over and die.. back with a sniff if we can kick the 1st two in the last.... but it will be highway robbery if we pinch this

Like this game last year, we finally come to play after it's been won.
Cmon boys. Let's rewrite history and put this mob on their art...

Williamson great return from injury. There lies our future. He can preserve against the odds and hit a target - tick  ^-^

Just couldn't find a goal in that last 5 mins despite 3 or 4 entries. Those two 50m penalties were rubbish!

When it's against Brisbane it's as dishonourable as it gets. First time i've been disappointed in them all season

Some very strange umpiring today , odd decisions

Seeing the effect of too many umpires and rule changes. Mistakes, indecision and confusion.

Oh well... got to within 11 pts and gave them a scare.

Different team after half time.... That 1st half was pathetic.

Dear AFL.
Please give Carlton a priority pick. They can't beat the bottom side.

We were bad in the first half and deserved what we got. Umpires were even worse in the second half. Snuffed out our comeback with bs decisions.

How does Zorko get away with hitting Samo and Plowman???
Plowman could hardly breathe and had tears in his eyes... And Casboult gives out 1/4 of that impact and gets 50 + mrp.
They were the better side - no doubt. But fair dinkum, he came over the mark twice in second half, slapped ball out, and no penalty. Is he playing to a different rule book? Unfathomable.
