Yes, Nick Riewoldt was a guest commentator on one of the televised games this weekend, and mentioned that all teams these days are spending lots of time at training practicing the fast break, chain-of-handballs from a stoppage / congested area. I would assume because players are so fit and well drilled these days that catching them off guard or on the fast break gives the best chance of scoring.
Every game plan / style has its strengths and weaknesses, and with the right players and right coaching, they can all be made to work and be successful. Every team needs to be able to play a few different ways, and needs to be able to change things up to suit the circumstances.
Whatever "educational" motivation might be behind Bolton's ideas, my concern is that he coaches this way because that's what he feels comfortable with and that's what he learned from Clarko, and that it's not the best way going forward. I hope I'm wrong, but I do get worried sometimes that we will be left behind.
It may be what he's used to Paul but I don't think we need worry.
I reckon that long term we will be a kicking and carrying side and we're just waiting for some better ball users .
Right now it's a brand that helps us get used to our long term plan and reduces the possibility of smashings.
Honestly, I reckon we'd have gone close to winning without the rain coming so heavily.
What if you trade Rowe at seasons end and keep Jones to play his role? Rowes best season.... but how many more does he have? Jones could potentially hold down a KPD spot for 6 years.
It must be a consideration but I get the feeling Sammy might be untouchable.
The only way we'd do it is if (and it's a big if) Liam did perform in the role , that it would be explained to Sammy that his opportunities might be limited going forward. You'd put a fair contract in front of him (I don't know when his ends) and say you're welcome here but if you want to explore your options we support that.
I wonder how President Pence is going to do things differently I doubt he'll be a big tweeter
Hopefully He's going to get dragged into this. Trumps overtly ridiculous but Pence is actually a monster. His views are far more extreme than trumps and he a christian fundamentalist who believes in holy wars and using nuclear weapons to start them . His views is that it doesn't matter if everyone gets killed because the righteous will be in heaven.

That Keppel, Declase, Stevens and Stavrou cannot get a senior VFL game shows just how much more depth we have this year compared to last. There were times last year when there were not as many Carlton players named in the VFL seniors as there are in this side. Let's hope they produce!

Some of those guys might be a bit annoyed at playing thirds but I hope they see the big picture.
Makes me very happy to be competitive.
Box Hill showing what a goods seconds side can do.
I like the "ins" whilst Jones and Army are both almost certainly gone at the end of the year, from all reports (Jones in particular), they have earned a chance.
Rumour is Jones is close to getting another contract based on current VFL form alone.
Super form line continues........ 13 disposals. Says it all. It's the same old problem for Jones. He's always struggled to get more than about 10 possessions in a game. He had a game the other week where he had about 20 which was amazing but he's reverted back to type.
17 games for Carlton - double digits possies 3 times only.
I hate to be negative on a guy who has some ability but I'd still rather see McKay / Kerr / Korcheck / Phillips play an AFL game.
Pretty shallow analysis, may as well have come from Facebook.
Did you watch the game? We dominated possession and Liam played KPD he absolutely smashed or ate everything that came his way.
Same for the last 4 weeks.
Liams biggest problem will be shaking peoples, sometime unfounded, bias.
Can anybody provide any evidence at all that Williamson missed a target this year by foot? I cannot remember him missing one. This kid is the steal of last years draft. Love him .
Pretty sure I saw him line up Montangas head but missed with the left boot.
Two interesting VFL comments from Josh Fraser from the weekend
14. Liam Jones Stats: 13 disposals, 8 marks, 5 tackles, 4 inside 50s, 3 rebounds 50s From the coach: He played as a defender again and is reading it really well, both in terms of coming off his man to influence the contest and also using his strength and speed at ground level. His super form-line continues.Must be close!!
31. Patrick Kerr Stats: 14 disposals, 5 marks, 3 inside 50s From the coach: Patty worked tirelessly all day as a key forward leading at the leg and in the air, while his tackling was as good as we’ve seen from him. I think he’s coming along pretty nicely and he’s one Carlton supporters should be excited about. Will get a look at it shortly, I'm sure.
Our boys should be pumped to do it for Murph and Freo looked shot in the last except for the last 21 seconds... after that big high they are due for a downer
I think we are a chance if we can eek out 12-15 goals... ?
If our defensive structure holds and we don't turn it over 10-12 might be enough.
Hmmm. Has been mentioned on this thread but he essentially tore us a new one. I saw Plowman with him when he was deep fwd and he seemed to quick for him. I dont recall who matched up on him around the ground.
I reckon he got two of those goals because we didn't set up right at stoppages .
