I liked the way we struck a body blow against a team that has lorded over us for a long, long time.  The old "if it bleeds we can kill it" line from Arnie is very apt and hopefully will give some blokes belief going forwards.  Really need to take down other mobs this year that have just bashed us up: Saints, Norf, Swines and Whorks spring to mind.

Really asked a few serious questions of the other mob, they have some awesome players but also a few that are just going, waaaay over hyped or coming to the end.  Maybe some of our opposition ain't as good as they are painted out to be?
DrE is no more... you ok with that harmonica man?

I think the closer truth is we are not a bad as we are painted out to be! ;)

I have read a lot of posts but only a few have mentioned the contribution Kroozer put in.
I thought he was the everywhere man.
He wss always held in the ruck and probably got out tappex but did really well around the rest of the ground.
Looks good when he goes forward too.

Good post. Lead the clearances (8) and tackles (11) for the game and a goal. Was BOG.

Witts was named ruck in the AFL team of the week with 2 clearances, 2 tackles and 0 goals. Give... me... a ... spell!

Plowman special mention: 18 possessions in torrential rain @ 94% efficiency.

That is ridiculous.

But we are as good as some of us think we are :)

However, I have to admit that I wasn't expecting quite as many blokes with less than 10 games featuring in a win under very trying conditions.

What I saw on the weekend was a backline that will make us a formidable side in the next few years.

I have not been this excited for a very long time!

When you see the potential in Marchbank, Plowman, Macreadie, Williamson, Docherty and maybe Weitering as a back six, you finally can see some light at the end of the tunnel.

Silvagni is doing a great job so far with his list management. Let's hope it can continue and these kids keep developing!

If there's anybody who knows about backlines it would have to be SOS!

I spent most of my money on Women and grog.
The rest I just wasted.

I was worried about the inexperience too, but the Druggos seemed to struggle in the conditions more than us.
A fine day might have made it all a bit harder.
However that's history now. We have and deserve the 4 points. :D

I just want to reflect on the consummate skill with which Weitering took Hurley out of a marking contest in the first quarter. Weitering gave Hurley a light bump with his shoulder that was just enough to put Hurley on the back foot an unable to move forward quickly. Weitering then pushed and met the ball for a relatively easy mark.  Unfortunately, Weitering had a touch of the Casboults and missed what should have been an easy goal.

The ease with which 18 year old Weitering disposed of a highly rated, very experienced key defender brought tears of joy to my eyes  :)

We're going to have some fun watching these green shoots over the next ten or so years. :)

What it shows is just how little those "Expert Commentators" know about the kids on the fringe of AFL clubs like GWS.

Basically it appears those Foxtel and Hun specialists must be forming opinions based on no observations, and I am betting they either haven't seen them or have seen very little of them, and assume not seeing a player regularly means they are no good!

FWIW, I think this ignorance through invisibility even extends to official activities like TAC CUP Dev Squad selections. In recent years I've watched a number of kids who I rate the equal to Weiters not getting a run at TAC Cup level, often because of nepotism!

There are clearly many agendas and also some huuge egos at play within the footy community. Balanced commentary and fair and even judgments are early casualties as a result.

Great post. Casboult would have just ran at the ball and given the defender a chance to punch it. Love Weitering - he's a class above.

Plowman's efficiency is becoming consistent as well as close to perfect. In fact the back six are building on what was a good 2016. Imagine, we've got young Byrne to come back mid season. That will be very interesting times for selectors.

Loving watching our journey unfold.
