I seem to be a bit different to many (not all) who have posted. As soon as Harry was out, it was game over. People have wanted Kennedy to play in the forward line because he is a good mark and kick. That's where he was played. Now they only want to play him in the middle, because he was good there the last couple of weeks. Do that, who do we kick the ball to in the forward line?
Just using Kennedy as the conundrum that we're in.
We are pushing sh.. uphill to think that JSOS is OK to be the 2nd ruck. Not faulting him or the team for his effort, but it isn't going to work that much.
I don't think I have ever seen a team who has kicked 7+ goals in a quarter have their opponents chase, tackle, harass, control the ball, change things up. I just prefer it when it is Carlton kicking the goals.
I'm not surprised, or upset by the result - although I couldn't watch the game from early in the third. Yep, we could have made more of our opportunities in the first half, but what if we kicked a goal instead of a point, then Goldstein got the tap and North got the ball going their way earlier. We will never know. What if that gave us confidence and we kept going. We will never know.
We are going to get beaten by the Saints - their rucks are too good for TDK, with Marshall coming back in. TDK has only played 18 games.
On second thoughts, f%^ it. Let's just sack the coach and start again, because that's proven to be a winner for us over the last 20 years. Or we can just turnover the whole list again, so that everyone is confident in their role and tenure - that's also proven to be well thought out and successful.
(PS Baggers - you deserve to be able to vote a few times in the Jim Park count for getting through the game and then going again).
I thought the first 1/4 and a half the endeavour and effort was good, however, a lot of wasted energy as there was no connection anywhere, so we were running around like headless chooks and turning it over - really suffering by not having a CHF coming down the ground to kick to. This energy use, I thought was going to bite us when we did get it sorted. Nearly turned off the TV.
It was just me watching until half way through the third, then the rest of the family joined in. It was great. There were some solid efforts by heaps, but the energy and enthusiasm grew. Family didn't like how anxious I was until we were 4 goals up!
As a note, Dow has always been really strong in the hips - now he has matured, he gets through some tackles pretty well.
My son plays footy with a State MP's son, who said the country wants & needs NSW to sort this out - offered no blame except to say NSW didn't have to learn some of the things that Vic did, which are now causing NSW problems. Also with some population vaccinated (particularly elderly) that will give some protection, so hopefully hospitalisation and death rates are reduced.
Funny - I much prefer giving my info to Social Media (not that I'm very active) then to the government - I am much more suspicious as to how our privacy is being eroded on a Federal level (pre-fill tax returns, all the MyGov, there has already been application by VicPol to access Corona QR check-ins).
The reality is if someone wants my information, they have probably got it or can get it.
It was obvious of her bais when reading it - doesn't mean there aren't a couple of valid points. It sometimes helps you understand things better, can strengthen your stance or just make you shake your head!
I didn't watch much of the game - late 2nd qtr and some of the third. Sadly, learning a new accounting system was a better option (and this one is complicated for my little head)! I am surprised that we only lost by 6 goals (only looked it up now to see the margin)
I think the nature of the loss gets rid of some of the paper covering the cracks - we think we are OK because we're only losing by 4 goals every week, and if we keep persevering we'll get there eventually. We want eventually to be now.
I see us toil away for goals time and time again, just for the opposition to score easy ones. Yes, we look good when we have a run on, but that's once a game and we fade quickly.
We don't seem to play for each other and don't seem to be a great team. How do you build a team in a club that has had so much change that everyone is looking over their shoulder. To build a team, there must be a culture. Our culture is yoghurt. Something smelly and disgusting!
Brisbane has built culture, Richmond has built culture, North will be building culture, Sydney has one etc. We will languish until this is established. We know what happened to Fisher - finishing on 99 games. I don't think it is a great message to say that Murph is not guaranteed 300 games - will only get picked if worthy. Tells me that we aren't really looking after our players that well. Negative message that filters down the club. (I get that some don't like Murph, and are happy hearing that he may not get to 300) - what about - we are working with Murph at the moment to help him get to 300 games - it will be a great achievement for him to get there.
ps how good was Toby's torp on half time - amazing kick.
Plowman will probably draw the short straw given he will be an automatic back in.
Except he is still injured.
Coaches: Who wants to mind Toby this week? Players: Coaches: Anyone? Players: Coaches: You will get a free pass for accountability for the next three games Players: Pick me, pick me
Going back a bit - so what if Dunstall knocked us back?
Without knowing, I would think Luke Sayers is a pretty hard taskmaster - CEO of PWC - you need to be make sure you are able to make money for all the partners/directors, whatever they call them now. He has also recruited a pretty big and handy team for his new enterprise.
Game plan questions could be as easy as What is the gameplan? Why does it work? Why doesn't it work? doesn't matter if reviewers haven't watched us play in the flesh.
I would imagine that Pav would have a few blocks of time in Melbourne - face to face gives much better visual signals than online.
Maybe part of the reason for the review now is for Sayers' understanding of exactly where we are and wants to be prepared when he has to ' roll his sleeves up'.
It was interesting on the wireless (774) over the weekend, I heard someone talking about Fagan and how he developed culture first (which is also what Noble is trying) - be a good start! Also, that in recruiting all the GWS stars at the start, they took the best available and not a balanced approach, resulting in a lot of midfielders becoming defenders and not being the most happy...
To copy what has been done before is not the answer ie:
- Don't copy our last 20 years - it's broke, doesn't work - Don't copy anything before the last 20 years - times have changed - Don't copy others - once we do that we are behind, as they have already moved on to greater things (which we may have done as per Sydney and Roos in appointing Teague) - we also talk about the Geelong and Richmond reviews particularly. - Do tweak other models, put them in our context - use experiences gained. Keep Teague, get him the help he needs - preferably someone experienced who knows how to win. Let Teague work on his strengths and someone help back him up with his weaknesses. IF we back our coach properly, that will build confidence. Sayers was on the board that appointed Teague. Back him. Don't listen to us plebs, we have no idea what's really going on (but we care). - Don't listen to uninvited rumour and innuendo. Pick carefully who to chat with. - Be honest about our list and expectations for the rest of the season.
