Ladies Lounge / AFLW 2022b - R5 vs Melbourne - Fri 730 @ Ikon
We've had 2 draws on the run, i would like to end that with a win, but we are up against the all conquering Dees, so i'd be more than happy to make that 3 draws in a row.

Dees are undefeated this year. Made the GF last year and will be our toughest game of the year by far.

Miracles do happen though....

Tayla Harris will be well rested in returning from her 1 match suspension. Wonder if she will be any good, last year she wasn't missed.

Ladies Lounge / AFLW 2022b - R4 vs Fremantle
Travelling to the west to take on Freo @Fremantle oval.

Will be a tough task despite Freo being 0-3, they are a lot better than that.

Should get Pound back.
Probably lose Guerin.
I think there'd be question marks over Vellardo and Trudgeon too.

Need the win to stay in the positive as currently, 1-1-1.

Ladies Lounge / AFLW - Mia Austin out for the year
Our first round pick who showed some good signs in her first 2 games......season over.

Quote
CARLTON forward Mia Austin will be sidelined for the remainder of the AFLW season after suffering a serious leg injury at training.

Austin broke her fibula and suffered an ankle syndesmosis injury during a match simulation session with her teammates on Thursday night.

Scans on Friday revealed the extent of the injury, ruling the 18-year-old out for the rest of the season.

Can't catch a break.

Ladies Lounge / AFLW Fun fact
So fun fact i just thought of.

2017 R1 - Carlton defeats Collingwood in first ever AFLW match
2019 R1 - Carlton defeats Richmond in tigers first ever AFLW match
2022b R2 - Carlton defeats Essendon in our first ever AFLW meeting*

*2022b R1 - Essendon defeated Hawks in their first ever AFLW meeting.

So Carlton has inflicted Collingwood, Richmond and Essendon with their first ever AFLW defeats.

That is something that can never change.

As far as i can tell, we only have that record against those 3 teams.

Blah-Blah Bar / Taylor Hawkins - Tribute concert.
I resisted the urge to post about his passing in March.

For those who don't know, he was the drummer of Foo Fighters. He was the drummer for Alanis before that. He had a couple of his own bands and would record with many other big time artists in his time, including Elton John. Much loved drummer, singer, father and all round good guy. The only bloke that could perform Freddys 'Under Pressure' and do it justice with both energy and vocals. Not bad for a 'drummer'.

I had tickets to see the foo fighters later this year, yet again, that obviously can no longer happen. The band will probably never play again because Taylor is irreplaceable.

Many musicians from around the globe have felt the loss and tributes have been flowing in.
So much show that they have put together a tribute show for Taylor....well 2, one in England (in the early hours of this morning) and one coming up in New York.

You don't have to know Taylor to enjoy the show, you just have to enjoy music.

I recently watched a George Harrison tribute concert from many years ago. I can't remember many more types of these shows that are made, and certainly not one this big. Packed out Wembley stadium no less.

Do yourself a favour and set aside to watch this. There will be something/someone you like, guaranteed.

Ladies Lounge / AFLW 2022b - R2 vs Bombers - Sunday, 11:10 @ Port Melbourne
First time we play the bombers and first time we come up against the traders Prespakis and Gee.

Both very clueless in what they've actually done.
Quote
"In some ways I was a little bit surprised in the way some people reacted to it, in terms of people we thought were really close to us, ringing some people and not getting the response we wanted back was probably a little disappointing," Prespakis said.

"I was a little bit disappointed in a few of the responses we got, but I guess that's just what comes with it," Gee said.

Surprise surprise, teammates were shattered that they walked out.
I'm tipping those same teammates will be lining you up on the weekend too so best be ready.

Most new teams struggle in their first couple seasons.
Most established teams make quick work of those new teams.
This one could be the best and worst of those groups making this a much tighter match than it should be.

We need to win this one.

Ladies Lounge / AFLW 2022b - R1 vs Collingwood - Thursday night!
Well, we won the VFL.
We lost the AFL.
Its 1-1.
Lets see if we can win the AFLW to break the tie.

TBH, i'm not confident as Pies have a better list which is more settled.
We will probably spend a few weeks finding positions for a lot of our girls as we've been raped and pillaged by other clubs in the off-season.

IN:
McWilliams - Cats
Velardo - Pies

OUT:
Prespakis - Bombers
Gee - Bombers
Egan - Tigers
Stevens - Saints
Wilson - Dees
Jones - Gold Coast
Brazzalle - Pies

FWIW, every game this year, we had 5 or more of those players in our best 21. 3 games, we had 6!
We've basically lost over 1/4 of our talent in the 1 season....and its high end talent.

But....a victory against the pies will help us get over it....
