The Carlton Football Club has significantly boosted its playing list, welcoming star midfielder Elise O’Dea and speedster Maddy Guerin to the Club on two-year deals after completing a trade with Melbourne today.

O’Dea and Guerin arrive at Ikon Park in exchange for the 15th overall pick in the 2020 NAB AFLW Draft.

We got both Odea and Guerin for pick 15. That is the pick we got for Sarah Hosking.

Sarah out, ODea and Guerin in.

Thats a big win for us.

edit: Now another one...

A huge win!

I still find it hard to believe that Sarah won't be running around in navy blue but those two ins are making it easier  :)

Great recruiting, and as long as we can hold our key players long term things look promising.

Unlike some of our main opponents our key players are not a bunch of +30 year olds!

I'm still a bit worried about those concessions the AFL is handing out, we haven't really seen a huge impact of those yet.

Neither O'Dea nor Guerin are ancient, so hopefully we can manage some really good footy from them. Guerin has lots of pace, which can't hurt.

The Carlton Football Club has made another exciting addition to its squad during the 2020 AFLW Sign and Trade period, welcoming wing/half forward Charlotte Hammans to Ikon Park.

The Blues completed a trade with the Suns that will see Hammans wear navy blue in exchange for pick No.56 overall in the 2020 NAB AFLW draft.

The 19-year-old was one of three inaugural AFLW signings for the Gold Coast in its first season, having enjoyed a stellar junior career, as evidenced by her four goals in five games for Queensland in the 2018 National Championships and selection in the Under 18 All-Australian squad.

Can't say i know much about her, but seems to be what we want in terms of talented young player.

Another pacey type apparently, looks like we might be taking the running team press game to another level.

Personally, I'm glad if that is so. To me it's the right direction for AFLW to head, and not trying to be a smaller weaker version of AFL bash and crash. There is no point having girls trying to be a Luke Hodge or Wayne Johnston, it's doomed to fail!

Let the girls be swift, skilled, disciplined, tactical and heavily team orientated.

@kruddler  I watched some highlights of Georgia Gee the other day, reminds me so much of Trevor Keogh, the little player opposition try to pummel over and over again, but time after time she gets up and runs those lowbrow numbskulls into the dust leaving them gasping for air meters behind, just like Keogh. If only a few more of our blokes had such drive to push through, too many of our men jog along behind play catching their breath after being targeted!
