What a thrilling game. Who do you think gave us that extra 1% to get us over the line?

Murphy, Gibbs, McLean.

Win the ball at stoppages and you go a long way to winning games, we won the stoppages today due to those three despite Warnock not dominating taps.

For once Warnock didn't win the hitouts. Yet it was by far his most effective game for us IMO. Clearly pinpointed our mids when it mattered, kicked a goal, and made some very good tackles and pressure acts against the dynamic duo of Nic Nat and Big Cox.

Murphy laid 11 tackles and had 9 clearances to go with his 32 touches and a goal.

Finally, playing in the land of the giants with opponents varying from Cox, Nic Nat, Kennedy, Darling and Lycett i think Rowe was outstanding. With limited athletic ability compared to all 5 of his west coast opponents he did remarkably well. He had equal worst amount of disposals for the Navy Blues, but with a mammoth 18 1%ers, it shows he clearly influenced the play.

I don't think Warnock was as good as last week but he got us rolling and set the tone early.

When he failed to mark against small/medium players, I think it was Bennell, he lets himself down. 206cm players just have to do better against small/medium players. Sometimes yo get judged by what you do wrong, not all the things you do right!  ;)

Credit where credit is due though. I've given Warnock worst on ground probably 3 times this year. Sure it's far from perfect, but if you had've told me that Warnock would've been more effective than Cox and Nic Nat i would've called for the blokes in the white coats to come get you.

I agree he is not in my worst either, I am not bagging him.

If he had clunked a couple against those smaller opponents he could have been in my best, two weeks in a row who would have thunk it?

Mclean, Murphy, Jeffy

seriously cant leave out Mclean he was huge tonight... When he went on to priddis the only time Priddis got a kick was when mclean went off.

Another hard one, Murphy, Buckley and Rowe today.  Thought Rowe was huge for a guy that has never really played in defence before.  He spoiled really well all day and had lots of help.

Everyone was pretty huge when it counted today, Gibbs, Yarran, McLean, Waite, White, Walker, Garlett.

Honourable mention for Mitch Robinson appears to be learning about lowering his vision and hitting targets.

Had a great overall game but a horrific last 3 minutes when we were in front and he was playing like we were behind.

All the blokes who have came in from the 2's or a stint on the sidelines have been good in the last 2 weeks.  Certainly didn't hurt MacLean or Robinson.

Like most players he had a few moments when you just wanted to close your eyes, but was very handy overall.

Warnock - did the bulk of the ruck work v. Cox NickNat and Lycett.
Murphy - commanding midfield performance and good captains game, led by example.
Simmo - seemed to be in the thick of a lot of action and was a great steadying influence across the half back line. Inspires others.

Plenty of others were pretty good!

Murphy starting to lead by example, needs to back it up every other week..
Rowe did very well down back.
Buckley, this kid is a GUN ..
Warnock took on all three and gave all.
Simmo lead from the front.
Gibbs
McLean not bad for a slow old fart..  :P

Showed he's not a stupid footballer and can make changes to improve his standing in the team.

Murphy - Captain's game.
Waite - best forward (just pipped Garlett).
Gibbs - a few blues but 11 tackles and a hand in most of our goals.

McLean, Garlett, Simpson, Jamison, White, Thomas, etc not far off.

Agree, we won the battle of the midfield and these 3 were the heart and soul of ours tonight.

Even now Warnock is only 50% of what Kreuzer gives the team at ground level stoppages almost every game.

It is easy to think at the moment Warnock is great because he has started doing what is expected by a basic ruckmen, and it is contrasted by the tripe he has been dishing up for six years! Getting first hand on the ball wasn't even a pass mark, only apologists believe it has any real value!

Maybe Warnock is starting to realise the tap is just like reading the menu, the rest of the meal is what really counts!

Today the scribes are out bagging Nic Nat about taking one mark in three weeks. They are also bagging Dean Cox saying he is horribly out of form, Cox has 28 marks this season! Contrast that with Warnock, who took 4 marks against Melbourne(3 UM, 1CM) and only 1(UM) in eight quarters since. Despite being much much better in recent weeks, he has taken exactly 1 mark in the last two games, season total is 7(6 UM, 1 CM) marks.

The scribes are right in bagging Nic Nat and Cox, and Warnock's 7 marks from a 206cm bloke in 5 games isn't good enough by some margin!

Don't get carried away!

Warnock, Murph Rowe.

Warnock - grilled Nic nat and cox in the contests, supported our mids well.
Murph - Stood out, and lead from the front when it mattered.
Rowe - Did his job and more, disposal needs work, but for a guy who isn't a natural defender did well against the likes of Kennedy and darling.

That was the Simon White who destroyed Michael Hurley (who was being played as forward at the time) about 3 years ago & had me convinced ever since that he can play & I'd duly championed him almost as a lone hand from then on.....until about 3 weeks ago when I lost all hope. I'm hoping I jumped off him prematurely......

Problem with White of late is that he can look  good when the team is winning, and horrible when it is not. He's become that kind of player which isn't good. He really needs a couple of big scalps against the odds to convince his doubters.

Have been on the best players thread in a loss, hard to pick three good in a losing.

Nah he won't convince me he did the same thing last year and then went to water when it mattered. I don't rate him at all and just watching the last quarter yesterday he fumbled a few times late in the game and almost pulled off another 'Goose White' effort. Good backup but that's as far as it goes for mine and keeping blokes like this on the list is half the reason we are where we are. IMO.
