Title: The Venting Thread
Post by: Gozza on December 25, 2013, 09:36:26 pm
Was going through the old boards before and had a good read of the old venting thread. Very amusing reading.  ;D

Same deal in this thread, but I suppose without the fowl language.  ;D

Let the venting begin.  ;D

Well Gozza, it is hard to vent at this point in time. I have had Christmas dinner and my stomach is full of food. my fridge is full of grog and ready to be consumed. My wife and kids gave me 50 bucks for a Christmas present too. First time in years to be honest. I'm as happy as a pig in crap at the moment and can't vent before I get uspet with something. I do however need to write a book though. One man living with three females and only one bathroom and one toilet will get me going eventually. ;)

Just got back from a terrific, though short break, up north. As part of the trip we stopped in to catch up with relos and friends in Canberra ...Canberra is a cemetry with street lights. The place is simply crape... it should be declared an abject failure and closed (somewhat like Adelaide).

Your relos must live in Charnwood if you got that from visiting Canberra. Don't put sh*t on my town dude...  >:(

Boom!! Don't fk with Spanner! A couple of my best mates are from Canberra, one is slow as a wet week and his brother has a multi million dollar business that he started around 4 years ago.. Nothing wrong with the water there!

Spanner quick question do you post as spf? Cheers.

I'd love to share what the problem is with both my mates (they are brothers) who live in Canberra. They both find it hilarious too, especially when they're out in public. Absolute pissers. Don't want to offend anyone though so I won't go into details.

Chisolm and Griffith.

Sorry Spanner for the excessive explanation to follow!

Your town, firstly, suffered due to the Conservatives f*cking up what (Walter) Burley Griffin originally designed. He was a genius and your town could have been magnificent if his original design was adhered to...

...but then (apart from the conservative administrators and their brethren - the unimaginative pencil necks) there was another problem - where to put our nation's capital as argued by Sydney and Melbourne (NSW state gov won over Vic big time).

Further embarrassing the 'location' decision was that 'Canberra' (as a place for our nation's capital) was also based on military paranoia??!! ---'Don't be on the coast as the enemy can get you there'. Well, I gotta say that the result of the location is extremely effective in terms of deterring any enemy. Imagine getting a diplomatic posting to Australia and ending up in Canberra!!!!

Sorry Spanner, but although the geographical location of your home sucks... many of the folks there are fabulous as evidenced by your good self and my 3 Aunts, 1 Uncle, their progeny and many dear friends who love the Mighty BlueBaggers.

Baggers please don't kick an man in the balls to explain why you don't like where he lives. Just say "Ooops sorry mate I was just kidding". Our home is our castle and we live where we live. Its not always by choice and sometimes its financially bound, or being close to family, work or just because we see some things others don't. We live where we live because we just feel free and safe to be there. Not having a go at you either there buddy. I'm sure you mean what you say in the best way. Cheers guys. ;)

I love a lot about Canberra including the National Gallery, the Military museum, great restaurants and of course the political sphere.

I don't love the road layout, Fyshwick, the weather and the fact that on my last visit 4 years ago I ruptured my lower back on the last day and a local GP gave me anti inflammatories and sent me on my way. At Albury Base hospital I was given Endone and sent away. My local GP gave me morphine and sent me for an MRI, I was then transferred to the Epworth where the surgeon who would ultimately do a miraculous job on "the worst prolapse he had seen" took care of business.

I am in no hurry to return to Canberra.

Probably better in the 'Milne' thread but I can't find it.

Anyway, Milne getting a $15,000 fine and no conviction (for sexual assault 10 years ago) is, IMHO, appalling on so many levels. What message does this send, especially to the victim!! Future sexual assault/rape perps will use the Milne defence now. At the time of his assault, the AFL was conducting thorough education to all players on respect for women etc. He consciously flew in the face of that...  :-X :-X :-X >:( >:(

I hope Phil Cleary and others come out swinging on this dreadful decision/leniency.

Couldn't agree more Baggers. The thing that annoys me most is that even though he pleaded guilty to indecent assault, he still won't have a conviction recorded against him. So he's free to travel indiscriminately and do whatever he likes for the rest of his life, despite everyone knowing exactly how vile this guy really is.

Just hope the karma train catches up with him.

The worst part was the judge taking into account the ten years of scrutiny and pressure that Milne had apparently put up with when deciding his fate.

I read today with some despair that the Sydney siege madman, who's name I will not mention, had a list of frustrations linked to complaints against reports broadcast by Ch7s Today Tonight. At least that is the spin I take from the headlines and the story.

We have already had in the last year a depressed nurse killing herself over a radio joke, now after denials of any rumored link between the siege and Seven Studios, it surfaces that the madman had in fact made a litany of complaints to the media watchdog about Ch7s tabloid show Today Tonight.

Someone at Seven must have known the madman had made those complaints! :o

When will the media return to accountability, when will the nuffas in power stop accepting the hollow blurb that emits from anuses of the sociopaths in power in the media that it's an accountable, responsible and reliable citizen.

How gutless are our politicians that they think the media cannot be held to account?

I am not talking about censorship, but self-regulation is clearly not working!

I cannot lay blame for the siege on Seven, the acts of a madman are inherently mad.

However, if a media organization behaves in a manner that breaks the camels back surely they must answer to somebody. The media should not be able to push, poke and prod insane, murderous or suicidal people without some accountability.

That's my rant and I'm sticking to it! ;)

The difference here is that the organization he was complaining about appears to have been poking him. We know he is a crazy, and it appears they lightly stretched the truth on some issues to help paint their ratings picture. If true, if they could have possibly even contributed to the break, shouldn't they at least apologise to the siege victims!

Has that radio station ever apologised to the family of the nurse, if it was a sincere apology I gather it would not have any strings attached?

I don't watch Today Tonight, so I have no idea what they did to "poke" him. It's hard to imagine a scenario where whatever they were broadcasting is going to be a contributor to this guy going and taking a bunch of people hostage at gun point.  :-\

Therein lies the problem. Normal people cannot understand it but this guy was far from normal or sane and various media organisations need to be mindful of this in their collective wisdom. They set themselves up as moral arbiters and sources of wisdom then act like ignorants messengers when it suits the motives.

Bit of venting from yours truly..

Cruelty to animals...cant put up with it eg the following:

a: The bloke who hit and killed that Border Collie in a ute with a mallet...you gutless piece of rubbish....you should be jailed for 10 years.

b: Live exports to Vietnam should be stopped, why?....their version of an abattoir is some lunatic with a sledgehammer laying into cattle who are tied to a post...

Following on from my previous vent on animal cruelty a while back  I have read with disgust today the story of one poor Black Labrador called Wilbur who some gutless scumbag stabbed 20 times in the poor dogs backyard...that poor animal would have suffered immense pain and it gets  my blood boiling thinking about it..
Anyone capable of this type of vicious slaughter is also a danger to humans IMO ...I hope they catch up with this creep and the Karma bus pays him/her a visit...

Elwood, I feel the exact same way as you. I have heard about this stabbing a few times recently. I don't understand it either. I remember a while back on Facebook there was recorded footage of 3 late teenage boys grab a 10 week old puppy (Guessing the age) and pour petrol all over the animal. Then they put it in their driveway and set a lit match to this poor dog. The poor thing screamed as it burst into flames and lived for around 20 seconds before it died. The whole time these 3 boys laughed at the animal for their entertainment. How someone can find this funny is beyond me. I never found out if the people were caught by any authorities. They should have the same thing done to them. >:(

It actually makes me tear up to hear such atrocities.   A dog will generally love you more than it loves itself.

I saw a video of a girl throwing puppies into a river one day and they were crying as she threw them.  Poor things.

I think Animal welfare is paramount to a moral human existence.  That's why I am a vegetarian.  I don't eat any meat, fish or Poultry because (a) I don't believe you need it, (b) any killing of animals- e.g abattoir etc.  causes pain and is cruel in my opinion.
