Post by: mateinone on June 25, 2017, 03:38:18 pm
Ed is back, really soft free to Tigers in the goal square is disappointing.

Tigers have a LOT of run, which is a worry
Couple of fantastic contested marks by Charlie and Kreuzer

Then Krezuer has missed and ABSOLUTE SITTER

Shocker Kreuzer!!!!

And again the Tigers run is what gets us in trouble, they are spreading really well.

Umpiring?

Some dodgy decisions both ways I feel
Or at least touchy.

We got VERY LUCKY with the last two frees which ended in a goal to Daisy
Title: Re: Rd 14: In Game Invective: Carlton vs Richmond
Post by: mateinone on June 25, 2017, 03:52:23 pm
Undisciplined play by a couple of Blues, starting with Daisy kicking it a long 70 meters to just a Richmond defense. Poor by the Blues in that passage, we should have been going in 10 up
Title: Re: Rd 14: In Game Invective: Carlton vs Richmond
Post by: mateinone on June 25, 2017, 03:53:42 pm
Jones and Kreuzer probably our best in that quarter I would think

Post by: maxm68 on June 25, 2017, 03:57:02 pm
We cant keep up with them in open space... need to make it a scrap.

Kreuzer miss was a shocker... he's winning around the ground in general play but losing the ruck contest which is hurting us.

Houli backhander got lamb flush.. 3 weeks

25pts - we need to keep the score up. 1st team to 80 wins ?   Go Blues

Jack has put the Tigers in front with a transition from their back pocket.
That is their speed in transition they run to their spaces really well and we couldn't touch that.

Hard to understand the change in Jones actively hunting the ball, liking this.
Title: Re: Rd 14: In Game Invective: Carlton vs Richmond
Post by: mateinone on June 25, 2017, 04:09:06 pm
Our ball movement is slow and we are hitting Rance too often, 5 intercept marks..

Jack takes his second uncontested mark from about 50. Similar shot to his last goal, about 5m further out.

He misses, but they have another shot now 40m.

Title: Re: Rd 14: In Game Invective: Carlton vs Richmond
Post by: mateinone on June 25, 2017, 04:11:20 pm
It feels like a situation where we need to hold on
27 inside 50s to 12 in Richmond's favor, but only 4 points.

We need to just stop this from becoming a big lead

Where the screw are our forwards?!
Title: Re: Rd 14: In Game Invective: Carlton vs Richmond
Post by: mateinone on June 25, 2017, 04:28:21 pm
They score from their defensive 50 again (a point).
33-16 forward 50s and they have score 4 of their goals from our forward 50 entries.

70% of the time was in Richmonds forward half that quarter.
They lead by 14.

Now the only positive is that Richmond are running hard and they have been running out of legs. We need to hope they tire, because they are comfortably the better team so far.

33 inside 50s to 16... lucky not to be 6 goals down.

26pts in a half... don't care how good our defense is we need to score...
Title: Re: Rd 14: In Game Invective: Carlton vs Richmond
Post by: mateinone on June 25, 2017, 04:30:10 pm
Very true EB

Jones was irrelevant that quarter. Rance is dominating.

Our forwards haven't had a chance to be honest, I can't remember them really dropping marks they should be taking.

Charlie Curnow easily the best of our kids today, the rest are absent.

Yes, a comparison between the ball movement of the two teams is illustrative. We have one speed, and one plan. Tigers seem to have flexibility in how they go about it. If we can't turn it into an arm wrestle, we don't seem to have much else. Tigers should be in front by another couple of goals.

It's not showing up on the TV, but there doesn't appear to be any targeting of players ala Ablett ? Can anyone confirm ?

Maybe throw weitering forward to try make Rance more accountable ?
Also seem to be missing a bit of pressure up forward, Lamb...

Boekhorst, Smedts and Pickett are passengers.....Graham isnt anything great either.....losing the three good kids has cost us.
Jones is playing well but the Castagna move is also working.....
Houli should get three weeks but wont because he is being downplayed as a nice guy and the commentators are too scared to criticise him...

Sounds like we set the tone q1.
Lost our way in q2.

Hopefully we can regroup and get it back on our terms in q3.
If not, the figures suggest it could get ugly. Fortunate for us, they haven't capitalised on their opportunities.  :D

Go Blues. Bring on the G & D we've seen in other rounds.

Agree...when Casboult rucks and Kruezer is off we have nothing forward...Weitering has been only average down back....
Cant believe we pick Rance out so much....Bolton needs a player that will lead him wide so we can kick the ball away from him....

I don't think they are breaking tackles really, I think they are just getting out in a lot of space and so we aren't getting a hand on them.

Their ball movement is absolutely A Grade especially on the transition.

they get the ball out of our f/line so easily

They run the ball well and have speed. We are lucky to be only a couple down

Yeap I said as much earlier in the week, but he certainly isn't going with Casboult. I think he is refusing to budge. Half the problem is the slow movement also gives the defense a chance to set and so he doesn't play on an  opponent when the ball comes in.

The chipping isn't working they need to start getting aggressive offensively - let's put pressure down our F50 not leave 5 Tigs players standing around together!

Very frustrating to watch.  Hope we turn it around

All 4 have been very poor. In fact awful.

Of course we are down a rotation down as well since the first few minutes of the game.
Gibbs and Murphy are not really having an impact either.

To be honest I think Cripps, Kreuzer, Charlie Curnow, Casboult, Docherty and Jones are playing decent football (though as mentioned Jones was mainly q1) from where I sit.

Kreuzer is our best by a fair margin at the moment I think

Some low percentage football again by the blues. Cripps kicks out white to a two on 1, Smedts does well, but tigers do end up breaking and snap a goal.

Okay what has Bolton got here?

We won the quarter by a point, but were outplayed again. We did however have a few more chances.

It is possible to win a game we don't deserve and he needs to get the heads into the fact that it is simply a 13 point game and Richmond have dropped games from here all season. 2 quick goals and there will be BIG questions over them.

Cripps was fantastic that quarter apart from a horrible kick that cost us a goal on the rebound.

Gibbs seemed to get his hand on it a bit, but dkdn't really do anything.

Composed finish by Cas after a very quiet quarter by him. It was a huge kick too, because it was one of those 20-30 m kicks 45 degree angle you HAVE to kick and he did.

We are in this game on the scoreboard and that is all that matters right now.

C'mon BLUES

We deserved to lose this game to be honest.

And the margin somewhat flatters us as we have probably been 8 goals worse at least.

Positives...?

Casboult had a good 1/2 and kicked a clutch goal near 3/4 time
Kreuzer was good all day
Cripps was good and great in the 2nd half
Jones overall still had a good game.
Charlie was good all game

Without a doubt at all. I would say more than half of our side were not just beaten, they were comprehensively pumped.
None of the guys that come into the team were any good, though Graham done a bit more in the 2nd half.

The only bright side today is we can play dead set crap and still be competitive.

They go way too many easy scores on transition.
