Something to consider, as we are stuck firmly on the bottom, is the list of voting in last year's Jim Park Award:

Top Ten:
4291 - Kreuzer, Matthew: Struggling for last year's form. Got injured during the opening round and hasn't been the same since.
3634 - Murphy, Marc: Barely been on the field due to injury and was not at his best when he was there.
3094 - Docherty, Sam: His knee injury meant that he will probably miss the entire season
2462 - Gibbs, Bryce: Traded to Adelaide :(
1615 - Cripps, Patrick: Playing with niggles all the time and still one of the best mids in the business!
1421 - Curnow, Charles: Continuing to improve, though he has also missed a couple of games.
1355 - Jones, Liam: Started the season poorly as the key defender, but has found his mojo and is back playing well.
973 - Simpson, Kade: Getting older and his disposal is getting worse. Still tries his guts out each week.
811 - Plowman, Lachlan: Well down on last year, but is appearing to be returning to form.
801 - Wright, Matthew: Had an awful year so far, but is working hard.

Appraisal:
[1] Of our top ten players last year, only three are playing as well or better. Of the top five, one is no longer there, two are long term injured and the other two have had to play through niggles or worse.
[2] Kreuzer had basically an injury free year last year and it showed with his brilliant form. He was one of the best rucks in the competition. This year he started the year in the same dominating form, but got injured in the 3rd quarter. Since then he has been back, but he is clearly not 100%. One clear thing is that he is not jumping as high or as confidently as he did before he was injured. And we have been thrashed in the ruck at times.
[3] With Docherty out, we have missed his drive from defence and the confidence he gives his team mates. It is also unfortunate that the players earmarked to take his spot have not been available through injury. So much so that none of choices has played more than 3 games (Byrne).
[4] How many other clubs could handle the effective removal of 3 of their top five and injury to a 4th? I don't think many could.
[5] One of the real negatives is that the next rank of player, 6 - 10, only two are playing better and one of those is the Charlie Curnow. That is something that the players and coaches must take some responsibility for.

Places 11 - 20
789 - Casboult, Levi: broken rib
736 - Petrevski - Seton, Sam: not playing as well
663 - Curnow, Edward: In career best form.
504 - Kerridge, Sam: Started in the twos but has come back strongly in recent weeks.
441 - Weitering, Jacob: Really struggled and had to dropped. On the way back.
432 - Marchbank, Caleb: Wasn't playing that well, but has been injured for extended periods.
405 - Rowe, Sam: Came back from injury well.
401 - Silvagni, Alex: has not been able to play this year so far.
318 - Silvagni, Jack: Started very poorly, and went back to the seconds. On the way back.
189 - Thomas, Dale: Better than he was last year.

Appraisal:
[1] Four out of ten have been as good or better. Six of them are either injured or below form. Of those, Ed Curnow has been in career best form and has been a tackling machine. Daisy Thomas is playing his best football for us.
[2] Sam Rowe's return has been a massive plus, especially as Alex Silvagni has not been available at all. he has stabilized our defence and allowed Jones to play his sort of game.

The rest:
121 - Williamson, Tom: One of those slated for Docherty's spot. he will miss the entire season.
120 - Pickett, Jarrod: In career best form until injured and has not played a game as yet.
96 - Lamb, Jed: Getting a game and being a pest.
89 - Fisher, Zac: Improving strongly.
88 - Boekhorst, Blaine: Gone.
80 - Cuningham, David: Missed some games with injury, but has generally been below the form we require.
79 - White, Simon: Gone
75 - Graham, Nick: Not in favour
44 - McKay, Harrison: Improving.
27 - Macreadie, Harrison: Injured for effectively the entire season. He was also slated to replace Docherty.
4 - Byrne, Ciaran: In poor form before he was injured. Another replacement for Docherty unable to take his place.

I don't like being at the bottom, but injury is major problem. We have too many people down compared to last year. Not enough players have improved enough.

Present Top Ten:
2579 - Cripps, Patrick: Up from 5th
1315 - Curnow, Edward: Not in the top 10 last year.
966 - Thomas, Dale: Not in the top 10 last year.
822 - Simpson, Kade: Up from 8th.
755 - Fisher, Zac: Not in the top 10 last year.
650 - Curnow, Charles: Not in the top 10 last year.
559 - Kreuzer, Matthew: Down from #1.
332 - Jones, Liam: Down from 7th.
297 - Murphy, Marc: Down from 2nd and unavailable for most of the year.
291 - Casboult, Levi: Up from 11th, but injured for weeks.

This shows promise.

Jim Park Award Rd 11: Carlton vs Sydney
We led at half time, but couldn't seal the deal. Pity.  :-[ We didn't deserve to lose by 5 goals, but that is just another one of those things.

We didn't a lot of voters this week, following the game at Geelong last week. This week 13 people voted. 15 people voted in the Geelong game. What that shows I know not.
For the same round last year we had 23 voters, celebrating a win.  :(

12 different players deserved a mention this week. Last week we had only 10.

This week's rating was 7.7, down just a tiny bit from last week. This is still as C-.

The Votes:
Jones, Liam 281
Curnow, Edward 221
Kerridge, Sam 194
Silvagni, Jack 120
Rowe, Sam 81
Curnow, Charles 60
Fisher, Zac 54
Simpson, Kade 45
Weitering, Jacob 42
Dow, Patrick 24
Kreuzer, Matthew 18
Cripps, Patrick 15
Wright, Matthew 12

Liam Jones was voted as our best player, comfortably ahead of Ed Curnow and Sam Kerridge.
It was very nice to see Jack Silvagni and Jacob Weitering in the votes.
This was Cripps' lowest score for the year. His next lowest was 29 votes.

Progressive Scores:
2594 - Cripps, Patrick (0)
1537 - Curnow, Edward (0)
966 - Thomas, Dale (0)
866 - Simpson, Kade (0)
809 - Fisher, Zac (0)
710 - Curnow, Charles (0)
613 - Jones, Liam (0)
577 - Kreuzer, Matthew (0)

297 - Murphy, Marc (0)

281 - Wright, Matthew (0)
201 - Plowman, Lachlan (0)
180 - Petrevski - Seton, Sam (0)
171 - Rowe, Sam (0)
169 - Marchbank, Caleb (0)
153 - Lamb, Jed (0)
137 - Graham, Nick (0)
134 - Silvagni, Jack (0)
109 - Dow, Patrick (0)

57 - McKay, Harrison (0)
54 - Garlett, Jarrod (0)
42 - Weitering, Jacob (0)
37 - Mullett, Aaron (0)
22 - Kennedy, Matthew (0)

Paddy Cripps still leads by over a thousand votes. Ed Curnow has opened a considerable gap between him and the rest of the pack. Daisy Thomas come next, ahead of a group of players who are one really good game apart.

What a disaster!

The rating, 5.08, is the lowest I can remember. It represents F. It is also the only time that only 1 voter did not score the team an F. Embarrassing!
For all that, 14 guys got a mention. That is higher than in some of our wins. I guess it says that a lot of guys did a bit, but very few did enough.
This week there were 13 voters, compared to 18 in this round last year and only 12 for our last round.

What a difference a week makes! A pity we couldn't win.  :(
Round 14: Carlton vs Collingwood

[1] This week's rating was 8.2, almost a perfect C, as compared to 5.02 last week (the lowest rating I can remember). Pity we couldn't pull off the win, but we did as well as we could with the players off the field that we had.
[2] 18 people voted this week, compared to 15 this time last year and 13 last week.
[3] This week 13 players managed a vote.

We have 5 guys now over the 1000 votes, which is not bad at all. However, Cripps is 1600 votes ahead. That is some sort of lead!
This was Cripps' 7th BOG for the season. Ed Curnow has 2.

Another very strong performance that didn't quite make it. Considering the personnel we have at the moment, we did adequately. As for Simmo, what a way to play your 300th! Just a pity we couldn't get the job done.  :-[

This week's rating was 7.74, just a little lower than last week (8.2). This represents a C-.
This round had only 13 voters, down from 16 last year and 18 last week. That was quite disappointing.
13 players managed to get a vote this week.

Rowe, Sam 30
Fisher, Zac 15
Dow, Patrick 6
Garlett, Jarrod 6

Simmo's 350 votes was a clear leader this week, a great result for a guy his age.
Cripps and Charlie Curnow both did well as well.

1 quarter of almost good football, followed by ????

Nobody was interested in this game. However many saw it, only 9 people voted. That says almost everything.

Yet another disaster. :(

The rating, 5.00, was literally the lowest that it could be. It is exactly an F. Very disappointing.
12 players rated a mention this round.

I have never seen anyone dominate the voting like this and yet score only a respectable 302 votes! It was due to the overall poor performance. Again.

It would be good to see how the Jim Park winners compare to the John Nicholls winners over the years.
