Midfield Rotations 2019

Regardless of who we get in the draft, trade or departures who should we see in midfield rotations for 2019?

I'd specifically pair Cripps and Fisher, because I want them to develop a strong working bond which may be enough to keep them both at Carlton. It's unlikely they would both be traded to the same club if they leave and sometimes friends can be enough to keep you connected.

I'd pair Kennedy and Murphy, I think Kennedy has just enough extra pace compared to Cripps to compliment Murphy and take some of the focus away from Murphy. I think when Murphy is paired with Cripps, because Cripps doesn't really run and spread it's too easy to nullify Murphy's run and we lose the benefit of Cripps winning the football.

Taggers / Stoppers, Ed, SoJ and O'Brien.

Rotation options for me are Dow, SPS, Docherty and Charlie.

That's eleven in midfield rotations outside of the rucks. If SpecialK stays he's effectively another heavy bodied mid-field option, Phillips and McKay are ultra-mobile ruck options but for some reason watching last season McKay was a little lost as a ruck after the tap. De Koning long term is a great mobile option, short term if he stays at the blues Jones should be given a crack as a mobile ruck option specialising in inside 2nd efforts.

I thought Lochie O'Brien was a Gaff type player - why would he be a tagger / stopper ?

Agree, O'Brien is outside run and carry, Docherty stays at halfback and C Curnow stays at half forward. They may do a little bit of midfield, but not much at all

Darcy has a choice to make. Extract all digits and do some very hard yards or fade into AFL oblivion.

It's clear his best is well good enough, we just didn't see anything close this year.

Finals, then 4 in a row!

Cripps, Fisher, Shiel and Dow to start in the middle....didnt pay pick No 3 for Dow to be anywhere else but onball and driving us forward with his pace...

Obrien on the wing in a Gaff role, not really much chop at contested footy IMO so I would be using him to carry the ball and distribute....

Setterfield if we get him, to change and relieve Cripps...same types, Setterfield goes by hand more and is a coalface player with a big body...

Murphy.....forward pocket goalkicker....think his on ball days are numbered but could be handy forward....doesnt kick the ball far these days but can find the goals.

Docherty half back for sure...why move a AA?

Darcy Lang...backup only

Ed Curnow...tagging but being phased out, kicking just not up to scratch...

Kennedy.....be playing him off back to replace Byrne.....should be fitter, can tag and I think might it be a better position for him given he gets injured a bit
and he can run straight at the ball.

Charlie Curnow.....FF...no brainer...gun and we need scoring power..

Mick Barlow...if we got him I would manage him and pick games for him to play in.....wouldnt play vs quick teams on big grounds....
