From the Hun...:

Quote
CARLTON
The big win: Relishing a traditional arvo and family-friendly footy draw in which they host big rivals Richmond and Collingwood at the MCG.

The major concern: Stripped of Friday night footy hurts, but comes as no surprise.

Prime time factor: Retained the Thursday night season opener against Richmond.

Get your tickets: Should get more than 80k to the ‘G for Round 1.

Club says: “I’m pleased we’ve received a balance of Saturday and Sunday afternoon matches. They’re traditional footy timeslots ... so it’s a positive result for the club and our members and supporters.” — CEO Cain Liddle

Finals, then 4 in a row!

Gotta say Cain looks like a feeble, very vanilla type....

Surely a great chance to say, well sure we haD A POOR 20018 but the numbers show we still draw a bigger crowd than all the others, Drug Cheats included.

AND, we'll be back....

Just strikes me as an AFL stooge - in my opinion.

Happy to spurt the rhetoric, rather than fly the flag!!

Do we draw bigger crowds than the others?....for the blockbuster games yep...but our averages are mid-field at the moment and well behind our big rivals.

Around 34,000

Richmond 57,000
Collingwood  55,000
Essendon 47,000
Melbourne 42,000

No they don't...especially home games.

Of the top 20 crowd numbers last year we had 2

Essendon had 5
Richmond had 10
Collingwood had 7
Hawthorn had 5

We easily have the hardest draw of anyone.

We only play sides thag finished above us on the ladder for all 23 rounds.  No other club has to do that...lol.

We can pretty much discount the Richmond  90,000 game...First game, new season plenty of hope, playing the premiers.
So our best apart from that was one 68,000 crowd against our arch rival.
We're not as good as we think we are at drawing a crowd and won't be until we're on the rise. ;)

No you can't
The first game of the year is a clean slate.
Not many Carlton supporters would have attended anticipating a 2 and 20 season.
Most would have thought we were a chance of knocking them off....even more at quarter time

Personally I'm rapt we have no Friday night games, not I until we can provide we can compete and win   consistently. I hope its in 2019, but until we demonstrate it, I am happy to not have to watch us lose on a Friday and spend the whole weekend thinking about it. I look forward the reverse of that in fact, us smashing opposition sides on the big stage on Friday nights. In the mean time, anyone, anytime, anywhere.
