Title: RD 16 : Carlton v St Kilda (In-Game Hair Pulling)
Post by: ItsOurTime on July 13, 2013, 07:49:47 pm
Players interested in the man not the ball.

Do our guys actually know what they're supposed to be doing?

Watson in for Robbo. Lots of scuffles around the ground.

Keep focussed Blues!

Pleased to see some aggression but you need to back it up with some actual football skills & execution.

Rowe being outmarked by Gwilt wasn't good.

Gibbs stopped chasing preferring to leave it to Garlett even though Gibbs closer.

Jones just out run Murphy for a goal.

Betts as sub...that's interesting as would have thought under the roof we could have done with our fast smalls.

Maybe he's still sore from last week?

Hendo up forward is a good move & Watson replacing Robinson in the selected side gives Watson a golden opportunity to stake a claim for being retained at the club.

How can someone run through the middle like that and break two tackles? He had no doubt he'd get through. We'll lose this if Malthouse doesn't send a big time message at quarter time.

Saints lead by 3 points, they are such a crap team too. Some okay signs from us, nothing to get over excited about though.

They are getting a lot of rebound off half-back, our forwards just have to apply more defensive pressure on them to force an error because each time they rebound, they are getting inside 50.

Well, thank God for Hendo. St Kilda players strolling through tackles. Armitage has absolutely zero respect for our defensive efforts.

We're within a goal, we need a pickup from the midfield.

Re:  Rowe.  Might not be a superstar,  but at least he knows how to play the position

I still reckon Carrazzo is short of a gallop, if that isn't the problem, then that is a big concern. Agree with you about Rowe, his big strength is he can take a strong one-grab mark. Watson has done a couple of okay things, looks better than he did in the NB team.

Saints are a rubbish team, if we are fair dinkum, we should pants them everytime we play them.

Now Murphy is in real strife with a hamstring strain.

We have had our chances to be further in front but equally, they blew a couple of opportunities to kick goals that would of put them in front. It's like neither team knows how to win.

Big second half for us, can't let these muppets beats us again.

Making hard work of this against a very ordinary team. Still having the lapses. Rowe and Hendo looked dangerous at times, let's hope we see more of that in the 2H and that Murph's leg holds up.
Title: Re: RD 16 : Carlton v St Kilda (In-Game Hair Pulling)
Post by: Mantis on July 13, 2013, 08:54:28 pm
Tackle rate needs to be the keen focus and not letting players get too free in space. I'm happy we are in front but feel we could have a bigger margin. Judd play on instead of a shot on goal must be getting close to what Setanta did in the goal square a while back.

We were a lot better that quarter. We actually applied pressure and put together some okay bits of play. Still, we're a long way off.

re: Rowe....more sophisticated player than either Casboult or Hampson and a ten times better kick than either.
Has problems running out second halfs of games and keeping up chasing and tackling but in terms of skill is a better player than the other two.

Henderson at Full Forward.....good value, problem being Watson and McInnes have to learn to pick up the slack down back but I think we have to keep persisting with the structure we have tonight.

Murphy looks injured and I was going to bake him for lack of chasing etc but he cant stretch out...

Simpson...great down back but everynow and then doesnt kick well unlike Dal Santo who even when off balance finds players.

Yarran...FFS just play some basic footy and forget about the show pony stuff.

Curnow...not good enough by hand or foot...Cachia is a better player IMO...

Judd...great contesting....

Walker ..like to see him in the game more...

Kruezer..cant take a mark but is competing well in the ruck.

In saying that we have been pretty ordinary ourselves this year so I'm not surprised that it's a close game so far.

I am convinced we cannot lay a tackle.  The only player I have seen this year that actually looks like he knows how to tackle is MENZEL.  LUCAS dropped a sitter, if he was any sort of player he would have taken it....Kruezer dropped a sitter too.

We may well win this but god help us against North next week and the Gold Coast the week after.  GARLETT needs to do more......lack of effort and aggression is a worry accross the whole team.  To me the list looks as bad as it has in years.  Mick needs to play MENZEL, GRAHAM and BUCKLEY.

Riewoldt is suspect but moving O.K on the run. Doesn't have much of a concern. Gibbs is doing O.K. I expect him to be getting more of the footy once Murphy is taken off the ground. His hamstring looks a real concern. You would expect Betts on half way through the 3rd quarter I would think.

This! Our tackling is a joke. We had 4 tackles in the first quarter, which is a damning stat but it actually looked worse than that in the first quarter.

We were better for the second quarter though.

Murphy starting forward. That's a good move. Firstly for his hamstring, second because he is brilliant up forward and thirdly it means Jones wont kick any more goals on him.

Chris, Carrots was subbed - I don't think he's injured, maybe just a lack of of match fitness. Turdface Milne has kicked 2, so not super influential, but 2 is about 100 too many for him.

Both teams are crap - any of the teams in the top 8 would be penciling in a win against both. Actually, forget about a pencil - they can use indelible ink.

Good to break some sort of a hoodoo against that rubbish club, but nothing to write home about. Saints have a few of their best 22 out - Kozi, Blake, Schneider etc.
