Patty world class. Ingles very solid at international level.  Delly serviceable.  Thybull has been a revolution, he is so much better and a better fit than I expected.  Landale and Kay are going to earn themselves NBA contracts off the back of this.  Exum is the wildcard, he can get past anyone, but then has struggled to score at the rim or make good decisions, if he can just step up a little, he could be a real difference maker.

Team is lacking one more scorer - if patty is off, they need someone to make a play and score.  In a perfect world Goulding could do this, but not likely.  Now wit baynes out, could be thin up front as well

Defence is the key to a medal. Goorj has them playing flat out and is rotating them quickly enough to keep them fresh.  The length and hustle of this team will scare a lot of teams

Baynes will be a loss against certain teams (ie Spain with the gasol bros), but wasn’t actually being played at critical times against smaller teams.

A medal is a real chance. As long as we have a solution to any teams holding patty late in key games

Funny, I said in the pre-game players would be unlucky to be dropped based on the Collingwood performance. This week it's hard to find anyone that wouldn't be dropped.
Eddie - non-event.
Owies - bugger all
Stocker - a shocker ( a week is a long time in football isn't it?)
Cottrell - bloody hell
Willo - God help me
SPS - Ghost
Weitering - worst game for the year
Fisher - zero impact

Slight chance of making finals. Playing a very winnable game. Fail dismally. Reminds me of a one of my favourite Elton John songs. "I've seen that movie too".

Eddie - non-event.  - he was hurt for most of the game
Owies - bugger all
Stocker - a shocker ( a week is a long time in football isn't it?)
Cottrell - bloody hell
Willo - God help me
SPS - Ghost
Weitering - worst game for the year  -  yeah, larkey got away from him a couple of times, but he did repel a few attacks
Fisher - zero impact - he had 2 or 3 side steps in the fwd 50, that if he then missed the shot, convert those, and......   (i know, if my auntie had....)

We were demolished and bullied in the middle of the ground and around the ball pretty much all day. H, Charlie, Kernahan, Lockett, Dunstall and Ablett Snr combined wouldn't have made one iota of difference today.

First half (esp the first q), we dominated the inside 50s, just didnt convert (both turning enough of them into shots, and actually kicking straight).  Then, when they waltzed through the middle, they converted EVERY time they went into fwd50.

So, i reckon in the first half, it was our forward line (and the delivery) that was the issue (as well as the lack of 2 way running, that allowed them easy goals).

If, we had used our opportunities in the first half, we would have been 6 goals up at half time, and that 3rd quarter rot would not have happenned

Grant Thomas on Twitter :

https://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/teams/carlton-blues/afl-news-2021-david-teague-press-conference-carlton-blues-poor-goalkicking-grant-thomas-twitter/news-story/c84fad2cec1a158087ca05081fa6e79a

“Carlton just have some very selfish players that are more interested in their own performance than team performance,” former St Kilda coach Grant Thomas wrote on Twitter.

“They’ve tried really hard, kicked inaccurately (because they don’t pass). Floodgates about to open big time I reckon.”

Obviously it's just one man's opinion, but the last 24 hours of his Twitter feed make for interesting reading. Sample :

Jeeeesus - did anyone listed to Grant Thomas' opinion on anything, even when he was coaching?  Now, how irrelevant is he?  Was it Caro that called him "Cornflakes" (as he had been exited from so many coaches boxes)?

H passes off inside 50 - "youve gotta go back and take responsibility and kick those".  He doesnt pass off - "he's selfish"

Considering the result, listening to the crowd reaction to Teague and watching his interaction with the players at the end of the game I'd suggest many of the media will be jumping on the 'Kruddler tram' this week.

The thing is that the focus of media attention this week probably wont be the game itself and the positive aspects.
It will be how stupid are Carlton conducting a review on a side while they're still competitive.
Or, if freo had kicked straight...  oh, and by the way, how good were Essendon.....

Tonight showed why Pittonet is underrated.
TDK ragdolled tonight.

Dow is growing every week.
Kennedy started well....disappeared but was ok at the death.
We carried Cripps
Ed Curnow is taking a back seat from midfield duties

Our young crop is growing, evolving, improving....

Both Kennedy and Dow dropped off after early fire.  Hopefully that’s the next step — turn 2 qs into 4
