I have some very mixed feelings about this game and the result:
[1]    I HATE losing to these Drug Cheats. They have just about displaced Collingwood as my most hated team. Losing against them when we should have won really grates on me.
[2]   After a couple of very ordinary weeks we really came to play yesterday. That fills me with pride.
[3]   We had a number of guys who looked cooked in the last 2 weeks, but ALL of them, younger and older, came to the party. Some were still nowhere near their best (Weitering, Plowman, Marchbank, Pickett, Silvagni, Thomas), but there was some real spirit shown.
[4]   Our mistakes continue to kill us. Had Casboult, for example, kicked that goal to get us back the lead, we could well have gone on with it. But we made too many errors that lead to opposition goals.

For all of that, we played about as well as we could play and still not win.

Voting is rarely easy, but this week there are a number of inconsistencies that need addressing. For example, Weitering played his best game for over a month. He had 20+ possessions and 7 really good marks. He only mucked up his disposals about twice. However, he spent more time on Hooker than anyone else and therefore must take the responsibility for the majority of his marks and scoring efforts. Does the good (a 300% improvement over his recent efforts) outweigh the bad?
Simmo was similar. He had a strong game with close to 30 possessions. However, some of his kicking was appalling and his direct opponent for much of the day was McDonald Tipunwuti, whose goals killed us. The Essendon guy did nothing of significance other than these goals and most of his possessions had to be in the backside, but those 3 goals were the difference between winning and losing.

[3]   Liam Jones
[2.5]   Matthew Kreuzer
[2]   Marc Murphy
[2]   Bryce Gibbs
[2]   Sam Petrevski-Seton
[1.5]   Sam Docherty
[0.5]   Kade Simpson
[0.5]   Levi Casboult
[0.5]   Matthew Wright
[0.5]   Dale Thomas

Explanations:
[3]   Liam Jones:   Played a supurb game at FB and provided run and some spectacular marks. Kept his man very quiet.
[2.5]   Matthew Kreuzer:   Excellent in the ruck and managed a lot of clearances and tackles.
[2]   Marc Murphy:   Started somewhat slowly, but was one of the more effective players on the ground.
[2]   Bryce Gibbs:   Much improved compared to recent weeks.
[2]   Sam Petrevski-Seton:   Still not 4 quarters, but did some lovely things,
[1.5]   Sam Docherty:   Solid and dependable.
[0.5]   Kade Simpson:   Played an excellent game, but his kicking let him down.
[0.5]   Levi Casboult:   Strong in the air, but his kicking let us down badly.
[0.5]   Matthew Wright:   Good effort with some nice goals.
[0.5]   Dale Thomas:   Thomas’ best game in ages.

Honourable Mentions:
Blaine Boekhorst:   Looked really good for much of the game, but dropped out of it in the last quarter when we needed him to stand up.
Dennis Armfield:   Solid in defence.
Jacob Weitering:   20+ kicks 7 marks, tackles: it all sounded good until you look his direct opponents’ output.
Caleb Marchbank:   Marchbank has been very ordinary lately, but he much better against Essendon.
Lachie Plowman:   Plowman has been down in recent time, but he player a very solid and effective game yesterday.
Sam Kerridge:   Solid game. He had a job all day and he did it well.

The only thing in this world worth more than a hill of beans is the Carlton Football Club.

Not here to criticize LN, but Kreuzer wasn't worth a vote??
