Loved watching those Syd Jackson videos floating around the club website and the web.

When I was a little tacker, along-side Doull and Barassi, Syd was probably one of my big all time favourites. So skilled, so cool under pressure, smooth as silk across the turf, like watching McLeod or Yarran cruise through the midfield, but no doubt a tougher version as he had to deal with quite a bit more "attention" back in those days, as the older folk know if you got a run-on back then you we quickly given a handicap!

I once had a good chat with Syd many years ago now at a club GF eve function at the Hyatt (we weren't in the GF btw). Hell of a nice guy. Spoke to many other players too, Johnno, Mark Naley, Rhys, and others. Turned into  a VERY big night. 🍻🍻🍻🍻

Had a few beers with him as well.  Asked him about the Don Jolley game GF whistle swap for his premiership jumper.  Also reminded him of his pouring rain drop kick for a goal at Princes Park against South in the 70s.  He couldn't recall it at all and said "how do you remember that"?

I simply said "I marked it Syd!"  So another beer was had.

Met him when I was a kid growing up in Bunbury in the late 70's watching a South Bunbury game.....he was back in WA and back home watching his beloved Tigers...where it all started. It was such an honour to meet him.

Shame about Kennedy, made a big difference to our structure I reckon.

Very surprised and disappointing Honey didn't get a 2nd week. Martin back after only one week with a calf? Something strange there. Pittonet comes back which is good, but I would've given Honey another game.

Agree on Kennedy but Martin a handy in though.

May not mean anything but interesting to note Cottrell named in defence and SPS on the bench. I will watch with interest which roles they actually play. Could SPS play more midfield?

Yep, let's not forget things are a bit unusual this season too.

That's a weak team quite frankly:

SUNS

B: C.Budarick, S.Collins, J.Harbrow

HB: J.Bowes, C.Ballard, C.Graham

C: J.Lukosius, H.Greenwood, B.Ellis

HF: L.Weller, S.Day, J.Corbett

F: I.Rankine, B.King, S.Flanders

FOLL: J.Witts, D.Swallow, T.Miller

I/C: B.Ainsworth, N.Anderson, S.Lemmens, W.Powell
Finals, then 4 in a row!

It is always a good sign when the side wins, they make two changes and the side is stronger!  Martín in is a positive and we are back to 3 talls up forward. Feeling good.
