Umpires need to pay more attention to marking contests... A lot of holding and tunnelling going on.   Bontempelli gets a long time to get rid of the pill when tackled.

We seem to be slipping over a bit when taking of for a marking contest. Maybe I’ve only seen it three times, but each of them have hurt us.

You should probably report this institutionalised bias to the club. It seems as though they've missed it for years. They should take it up with the AFL. It cannot continue any longer.

I’m sorry but the holding the ball rule is not being paid evenly. Yes we’ve got a few to advantage that shouldn’t have been paid, but holding the ball has cost us goals. Rubbish.

Every team you support is unfairly treated. The Victorian cricket team gets shafted by the NSW mafia, the Australian cricket team is dudded by the Saffies and the authorities, Carlton is hated by the AFL, the media, the umps etc. Maybe you should try supporting different teams.

And our response is t stand still and guard space. We give the opposition mids and half backs too much room and take too long to respond.

Same in reverse going forward, everyone finds their position to stand in and waits for the ball to come their way.

Getting chances near goal but mucking them up. We probably should be at least closer.

If we play Casboult, C.Curnow and McKay do we really need to play SOS? We need a smaller defence. We have no pace to set anything up out of there. We have no idea how to run and spread when we have it. We don't work hard enough to keep the ball in our 50, the essence of today's game.

Yeah, I'm afraid it's VFL time for SPS, as well as O'Shea and SoJ, although SoJ is giving us more than McKay!

Boring game, pity our talls can't hold some marks, would be close.

Good half by Meat though, just needs to keep moving.

Positives

Cripps
Fisher should be extended to 2050 :D
Daisy having a good game.
Phillips is winning the ruck clearly
I'm liking the way McKay moves despite not a lot of scoreboard impact.

Negatives
Younguns Dow and O'Brien having little impact
Jack might need another spell

We drop two guys who actually have some toe against a team full of toe....

our forward line is full of snails, our backline little better.

Where is the ticker with these blokes.....?

They're happy to play at 50% seemingly.

At least two Dogs goals are the result of his poor foot skills across the center of the ground.

I'm not talking about missing 40m passes, these have been barely legal kick length and failed to hit the target.

And we've reverted to that nothing backwards, sideays, backwards, sideways again, then turnover strategy.

Is that the best BB can come up with against a very ordinary side?

McKay's been more up the ground with Charlie and Levi deeper.

He's playing indoors, in perfect conditions for 200cm players, failing to clunk the ball against players 10cm or 15cm shorter. This was his VFL form, now we get to see the reality!

What remains the same?
Same supporters watching the same crap football for almost 2 decades.

Agreed.

With a team like the bulldogs who flick the ball around in tight so much it is important that the umpires are onto the holding the ball and throwing. Unfortunately that isn't the case tonight so we've been pushing dung up a hill. Then we shoot ourselves in the foot routinely and give away silly goals.

All frustrating.. to say the least.

If not for our ridiculous amount of unforced error we'd have won comfortably.

I'd be sacking the skills coaches, you just cannot have AFL players missing so many easy targets by hand and foot. Handballs behind the running player, kicks favouring defenders, basics fail, basics fail, basics fail.

I'm not talking about in the heat, I'm talking about the sh1t you see in the open and from setups or free kicks.

We have no idea how to play the modern game, we pick the wrong side to actually play the modern game. Selections are hopeless. How do you get any run out of defence when everyone is 6 foot 900 inches tall.

I think we would've too. Never have a seen a side be their own worst enemy. I loved the look of Bevo $hitting himself when Charlie took that mark. Pity he shanked it big time.

Yes! Most sides are going shorter and we're going in reverse. Run out of half back is so important to the modern game and what are the types we select?

It's easy to ask for run, but we had 200cm types dropping uncontested / unpressured marks inside D50 to gift the dogs goals.

Pains me to say it but Matt Shaw has to play in front of Kennedy, he just isnt fit, cant chase ,and a liability, lucky it was played at Etihad..
JackS also cant be played vs quick rebounding teams who move the footy well, why Garlett and Lamb were dropped is mystifying and why we went with a extra taller defender in OShea was crazy.
Marchbank also looks unfit or not match fit and was caught all the time with the ball...

Can't argue with that but he's still quite green himself. Better to develop him and get game time into him I guess.

Could Garlett go back with him? We clearly need more than 1 running option off half back, but unless we abandon the stop-start kick backwards game it could be pointless to have any runners come in.
