Looking very sharp and smart there. Hughesy on also. When have we ever seen a Carlton player and Carlton supporter on the show at the same time.  ;D

The set looks to have lost a bit of its character.

Doesnt suit Chris Judd....he is an intelligent bloke and not comfortable with all the clowning...Dave Hughes is a nice bloke having met him but he isnt funny which is a problem when you are a comedian...

Not on TFS, on Before The Game, you had Hughsy, Sam Lane, Andy Maher who are all CFC people, they would have CFC players plenty of times. Not on the panel though.

Did I hear Heppel say (when talking about his brother and playing/training with him):

"Yeah he gave me a few jabs at training"

Lol

Dave Hughes isn't funny which is a problem when you are a comedian...

His routine was quite embarrasing tonight. If his role is going to be 3 1/2 minutes of stand up each week, good luck. (Nothing more embarrassing having the hosts being the main ones you can hear laughing in the background)

I agree, his stand up tonight was embarrassing but what he did with the Melbourne players was quite funny, maybe he needs to stick with that kind of thing.

It will be good to have a Carlton representative on the show regularly. Some one to promote us and defend us when necessary.

So glad Juddy didn't sing.

Retirement on the door step probably is making juddy think about post football life. He'd have never done this as a young man (i assume he has a semi regular gig), just fronting to the media he was obligated to do. Perhaps he is now realising how important this game is to him and is more open to coaching and playing longer than he first thought?

He basically said that James Hird can do no wrong in the eyes of the players. he could walk into training with a syringe hanging out of each eye and the players would say "James' new glasses are nice".

Did you notice how the panel squirmed but most of the crowd cheered, if you get a chance to watch a replay listen for the odd lonely boo! I pissed myself laughing! :D

Even Newman made some EFC jokes during his Arnold Classic Street Talk! :o

The first time I've watched TFS in years, only watched it for Juddy. Reminded me of all the reasons I don't watch it. It's not funny, the 'news' was not particularly groundbreaking. I mean who cares what Lumumba asked the AFL back in 2013? It's obviously not an issue.

Last night was just awkward. If Juddy is going to be on there again, you'd want to hope for his sake that they all lift their game. So happy that there are a lot more decent football shows available on Foxtel.

I dont mind it. Its pretty brain dead light hearted fun with very little serious footy content (most of the time). Better than all the farken stupid talent(less), renovation and cooking shows.

That's true, can throw gogglebox into that too.  I just find that the humour is repetitive. I like the guys on 360 better, it's still got it's funny moments, but a lot more relevant football content.

That being said, if Juddy is on TFS more this season, I'll tune in.

I'm pretty sure he said supporters not players, he led into it with Carlton fans not getting behind the club and pointed out how Essendon fans do.

The problem with TFS this time of year is there is no footy to talk about. Judd will be a much better inclusion if they have some football to talk about, they already have enough clowns they don't need another!

TFS epitomises what's wrong with 9's cricket commentary; too blokey and too many ex-footballers trying to be funny.

TFS lost its way when Trevor Marmalade left and I rarely watch it now.  I certainly couldn't watch it from go to woe.

Perhaps I was too generous IOT.

How hard would it be to put together a serious analysis of current footy issue, a preview of the next round, an interview with a guest or two, a comedy sketch and perhaps some live music?

You would have to replace the bozos currently on the show with a decent anchor person and a couple of articulate footy experts.

While still amateurish, the Marngrook show is heaps more informative and entertaining.

I reckon the show is an absolute pissa! If you're watching it for footy content don't you're not going to get it. I watch it for pure humour and it's pretty damn funny IMO.

This. And for mine, the biggest pissa on the show when he is on is Dane Swan. He is a dead set lunatic with a warped outlook on life.

Yeah, pretty much a bunch of old footballers who think comedy = lame schoolboy stunts and sexual innuendo. Even Hughesy looked decidedly uncomfortable in their company. Please Footy Show executives, let comedians be the comedians and have the footballers and ex footballers talk about footy.

Mate, i know one of the main guys behind the scenes of the footy show, very blokey and loves an in joke. That has translated onto the screen and certainly will not change anytime soon.

x2

The humour and the journalism are at the bottom of the barrel compared to the other shows on offer, but people still watch it. I bet the irony isn't lost on Newman whose "the average person on the street is a moron" are the reason for his wealth.

Can't argue if the ratings are OK. I thought Before the Game had a good mix of professional comedy and footy stuff.

I can argue about plenty of shows out there where the ratings are OK. Doesn't make them good shows, just means there are plenty of sheep out there. ;)

You can't beat the footy show for star power and thats why they win the ratings. Before the game had comedians as presenters, the footy show has hall of famers as regulars and modern day superstars for the whole show, rather than 5 minute drop-ins that before the game had.

Other than the fact they had 3 Carlton people on the panel, I thought that show was utter puss and run by try hards. Ch10 and 7  shows are dead, TFS is still going after 20 odd years.

Get your hands on a copy of the footy show from 10 or so years ago and you'll be surprised at how different it is today.

While all the other channels are going for more in depth analysis, especially foxtel shows, channel 9 are going the other way.

I haven't watched the footy show in a long time but it was always there to provide the team announcements with entertainment around it. They were around before internet was everywhere but you can see why they might not want to move away from their formula and become too close to shows which have already failed, is already being done by someone else or needs to be are aired at 10:30pm or 11am on a Sunday or requires subscriptions to subsidies it to become a viable option.

That said, it's not for me ;D

TBH the thing I love about it the most are the pranks and dares they play on each other. Like when Billy had to eat those super duper hot chilli pies. Or their version of Big Brother (Big Billy). I find that kind of silly stuff quite entertaining. I can understand why others wouldn't. Each to their own.
