Pre Finals Bye 2023

Very nice to be participating in September again, after too long a break. How our team will line up will be interesting. Who will be available also.
Pity the 2nds didn't make it: it would have been a great help for them to be there.

Yes, having the Magoos in the finals too would have meant getting games into our returning players and keeping potential replacements in the best possible nick.

I listened to an interesting discussion about the pre-finals bye on the wireless recently.  It was pointed out that, if the Tassie team comes in as an extra team, the resultant bye will mean that one team could have no game for two weeks before the finals.

It was proposed that the pre-finals bye be scrapped and replaced by a week off before the grand final.  That would mean that players concussed in the prelims would be less likely to miss out.  With the Brownlow, parade, etc, there'd still be a good build up to the grand final.

isn't it usually the top 4 to start the round to give the loser of the first final an advantage into the semis?

im not sure I can get out of mine.  When you have coordinated local resources and resources in the USA to perform a version upgrade on production servers it becomes an exercise of hoping others pull the pin.
