It should be mentioned too that Maddie Prespakis was runner up in the AFLW MVP award to Jazzie Garner.....a great effort.

Maddie was also named Vice captain of the AFLW best 22 under 22 team.
Georgie Gee and Charlotte Wilson also made the 22 under 22 team.

Congratulations Maddy, well-deserved win indeed! 👏

I reckon she will continue to improve, particularly with her mentor’s help.

Funny about Harrington not polling well - it seems that defenders aren’t noticed, except by hard-nosed supporters 🤔

Well Harrington just got named AA, along with Prespakis and Harris. So at least thats some recognition.

Yes, for me Harrington was clearly in our top two, if not actually our equal best given she had missed some quarters.

I love our girls and the AFLW, but it's still throws up some puzzling moments.

Of course we do not know the roles they were given, but I'd have had Harrington, Stevens and maybe even Egan ahead of Dalton. Dalton had a couple of very good games at the end of the season, but I would have said she was influential in the early rounds.

I thought McEvoy played good quarters, but wasn't anywhere near as consistent as the others, not sure who she ended up 5th.

I think Hosking and Katie Loynes are a bit stiff not to be in the votes, and either of our rucks could have figured as well.

I suppose overall our season was pretty even which is a tell, for those who haven't seen it yet.

Mistakes are always more costly in the backline and it artificially deflates your performance.

How many times has Liam Jones, and Weitering worn the ire of fans because their opponents get a run on and kick a few in a quarter, but for 3/4 they were top with a weight of numbers of entries costing them dearly.

That says more about fans and human perceptions than it does the players.

Fans nearly always vote the goal kicker / finisher, and ignore the people who created the opportunity much earlier in the chain of play.

I realise they are not infallible, but I expect professional voters(coaches and match officials) to be above this sort of shallow perception.
