Robert Heatley Stand / Re: VFL Rd 14 2025 Carlton vs Port Melbourne

We got to see more of Moir's footy IQ. Much better game. Put his hand up.

Frankie E was dangerous and also put his hand up, which probably means we'll promote Durdin.

Liked Charleson's game, coming along nicely. Not yet.

For mine, Lemmey still doesn't have enough 'authority' in his game... close, though. Nothing to lose giving him serious consideration - give him a taste. We already know what we're getting with Young (the obvious spot to be filled by Lemmey).

Evans is not fast enough, big enough or good enough for AFL - He is well suited to the VFL where he can tackle players who are standing still or who are slower than he is and not expecting to be run down.

Also like Charleson's poise and skills - might be a good player next year.

Also liked Moir's ability to take a contested mark (or two) - unlike Lemmey, a one-trick player with limited mobility who needs to be given the ball by way of an uncontested mark or a free kick.  At least he can kick the ball effectively but I doubt we have the senior players who can kick it to his advantage.

I Finally saw something useful from Monahan - seemed to have some poise and an idea of what was required of him - handball skills also seemed quite good - might still make a player if he is persevered with

Boyd, Carroll, Moir are good kicks of the football... there is no excuse kicking the can down the road and not trying to fill this important role despite players missing.

Carroll is a good kick (most of the time) but his kicking action (heavily across the body most of the time) causes him to butcher the ball when he is off balance and under pressure - needs refinement.

Moir hasn't done enough for a game based on what ive seen.

I wouldn't be dropping acres.  Sends the wrong message and he busts a gut.  He's also more versatile than most and is more likely to build into it and play at a level beyond most of our list.

We dont take our next opponent seriously and we'll pay for it.

Pittonet comes in for o'keefe as tdk will need the help dealing with Xerri.

Lewis young probably comes in by default if curnow doesn't come up.  At least we can swing him forward and back, but id prefer lemmey came in, but not ahead of pittonet.

Hopefully just the one change, Francis Evans was one of our better players on the weekend and would be ahead of moir on form.

Yes, Moir has to earn a game.  He was pretty good two weeks ago but reverted to a cameo role on Sunday.

Acres is down on form but is still in our better players and way ahead of any the blokes who played in the VFL last week.  The only way he’ll miss is if he’d benefit from a week off.

Moir didn't really show much in the VFL before he was previously gifted a couple of AFL games - maybe he is going to provide cameo performances at whichever level he plays.

I don't think Acres is down on form; I suspect he is carrying an injury.  Whatever the case, he provides a better competitive option than any of the guys going around in the VFL - apart from his weekly turnovers, which seem to be common to many of his teammates.

Pittonet to carry a share of the load against Xerri and Lewis Young ahead of Lemmey, please.

I reckon Weitering is either carrying an injury or has seriously devolved.

His 2 games, either side of the bye, were as poor as I can recall and this week wasn't much better.
He is completely lacking any serious acceleration.
He seems far less mobile and unable to elevate himself off the ground to get the same dynamic defensive punches and/or overhead marks that were his greatest weapons.
His kicking has deteriorated so much that he rarely finds a teammate unless that teammate is standing alone in a paddock.
Part of the problem with his kicking is that he is commonly standing flat-footed and lacks the mobility to kick through the ball - hence he regularly puts too much air under the ball and/or simply kicks it aimlessly as far as he can, which is not all that far these days.

while i agree Weiters has had a few off weeks the very fact we are critiquing him is so sad - kinda means this list is potentially cooked. The bloke was our rock when all
around him was crumbling and now our sh1te culture has even gone thru to him. The one guy i thought would be immune. its bl00ldy sad.
I suspect he is carrying an injury that seriously reduces his mobility - that would be the better of the two cases.
