Bell's efforts good, kicking atrocious.
Jammo going half pace.
Rowe hopeless.
Curnow could have tackled Elliot in C/Woods forward pocket, but didn't bother.

Murphy and Kruez been good, Smith trying hard.
Everiitts so called pass to Walker fkn disgraceful.

It's the old story, no skills, we can't kick to a target and hit the target.

Don't expect BB to tackle. He's another outside wait for it to come to me type, but at least he can hit a target.

And that is my issue with Dylan Buckley. I have been saying for weeks, that he's got the guts a lot of them lack, tries hard and so on, but totally lacks a football brain  and the capacity to make quick decisions.

That free against him would have been number 6 or 7 in the last few weeks for not having the capacity to make a decision as to what to do when he's got the ball.

So good to see Kruze back really creates pressure around the packs

Post by: bignic on August 08, 2015, 02:11:59 pm
gotta love the Kruez. And then there's Rowe!!

C/Wood scored that goal, because Simon White refused to tackle in the centre, rather stretched his arms out to try and smother the kick from the C/wood player, who wouldn't have been able to kick the ball had White tackled.

walker completely out of sorts, hasn't got the pace of the game yet.
Title: Re: Rd 19 Carlton v Collingwood -In game thread
Post by: Robblues on August 08, 2015, 02:20:18 pm
Yes but good to see him out there. Still think Rowe will be valuable for us, he like a lot of them suffering lack of confidence in himself & the unsurety of players around him. We have many incomplete players, no skill & passion, or skilled and no grit even a small shift in those areas will make a huge difference all round
Title: Re: Rd 19 Carlton v Collingwood -In game thread
Post by: bignic on August 08, 2015, 02:22:54 pm
A half fit Reid will slaughter Rowe today.

Unfortunately, Rowe is not up to AFL standard, and never has been.

He's out there because we don't have any other 6 foot five inch log of wood to replace him.

Well he would not be alone in that situation , certainly a lack of cattle around.

Post by: bignic on August 08, 2015, 02:30:49 pm
I am sick of this bulldust staying off their opponents with arms outstretched, rather than going at them to tackle them. Doing that places no pressure at all on the C/wood players.

Really wish some our forwards had the nous of Waite , his leading patterns really gave us targets

This is Dimboola thirds level football. Both teams are terrible.

anyway, as long as we beat them, I don't care.

What an ordinary game. Two pretty bad teams, here. And boy are there some blokes out there who should not be wearing the cfc jumper.

No system at all when we go up forward, Robbo.

not only that, but when it's kicked there, they all fly and no one is down to crumb.

That passage of play where darci Moore finished up with the mark, tells you all you need to know, not just about the players ability, but barkers Coaching.

Hendo had no where to go at all , and we then turn it over when we should have been looking to score. forward structure so lacking is sad .

Too much stuffing around, can't hit a trget, no plan from the coach to go forward,  just cr@p.

I think we might have found a player in Holman, about the only bright light so far today. If Buckley gives the ball back to Rottingwood once more today I will spew up!

I really pity whomever gets the coaching job for next year.

We are that far behind and lacking in every aspect of the game, that it's frightening.

We got 47,000 members this year our second highest, probably because Mick said he couldn't see us losing a game.

Unless there is a complete overhall, the deadwood players we have are disposed of, and we get some decent draft picks and trade well, we will be lucky to get 30,000 members next year.
Title: Re: Rd 19 Carlton v Collingwood -In game thread
Post by: Robblues on August 08, 2015, 02:55:08 pm
Yes getting a good feel re Holman, hope he can get that experience this year to build for 2016. If Graham can do the same would be a positive form this year, hasn't been many other highlights.

Just been watching a few minutes of the Bullys port game.

every time a Bully player kicks to his team mate, he hits him on the chest.

Watching them , and Port, just rams home how bad we are.

It is amazing how many players we have that seem to lack basic skills at this level. Goes right back to our recruiting and coaching throughout the last few years.

Ours should give the money back.

I mean to kick to a moving target is a basic skill that you practise from your early teens , is it a lack of intensity ? Confidence ? Or is it players just going through the motion and not really interested in there own personal display?
Title: Re: Rd 19 Carlton v Collingwood -In game thread

The irony is that this is just the kind of game that Yarran and Menzel could have played themselves back into form, with the opposition being so ordinary. We're helping to play Reid back into form.

Yes , possibly Baggers , but without any mental commitment from them , it would be a few highlights and rest blah . Can wait for this season to close and wait for the cleansing, hard to say but , has to happen. Would be hard for any coach to lead a team of players without energy & intensity.

I'd still love it if we could beat the old enemy.

having said that though, if GC beat Brissy as they should, we go to 17th and hopefully we get as better draft pick as a result.

I should have put an emoticon next to my comment, it was a little tongue in cheek. We did the right thing dropping them both back though I think you're right that Menzel may have found something in this game but that is all based on the luxury of seeing how the game is unfolding and just how bad Rottingwood is, we run the risk of making them look better than they are. Sadly, we are just awful. Right back to the MM days of a few months back. Only a few playing with spirit. Don't think I've ever seen an opposition player break a Carrazzo tackle as easily as one was broken in the 2nd qtr. I really thought we'd show more than this, a lot more. 20 tackles to half time  ::) sheesh.

Terrible kick by Murphy, one of our worst at hitting a target.

then again, White didn't even attempt to go for the ball.

That murph you dash just highlights our play, can't hit a target , basic skill problems. So we are always playing catch up.

I have watched walker closely.

he thinks, that by being the third man in, by that I mean, a C/wood player gets the ball, Carlton player tackles him to the ground, and in comes Walker, that he's doing some good  and showing effort.

I don't know who he thinks he's fooling, but it's not me.

My favourite gripe at the moment , no one in our forward line, again we go forward and no one there. Can't wait till a coach bucks the system and says " play a tall from the square" maybe with a player there we might even find a target

Why is it that you me, and heaps of people both outside of and within the club think exactly the same as we do, yet we can't find a bloody coach to give that instruction.

we have got two ruckmen playing today.
Put levi at FF and leave him there all day.

Instead, I see him at the centre bounce rucking.

I have got news for Barker.

WE AREN'T GOING TO MAKE THE 8.

How about you actually try that, and leave a tall forward, at FF for the whole game.

We actually won the qtr... by a pt.  Whiley 9 possessions for the qtr, and he only played about 3/4 qtrs of it, he can expect someone to man him up in the last.

Unfortunately, Dylans total lack of intelligence will eventually see him out of the game.

He's  huge trier, loves the club, can kick a mile, has got guts and is fearless, BUT, he makes the wrong choices far too often.

His old man needs to have a looooong talk to him at seasons end.

There are two things in particular, aside from kicking skills that I hope a skills coach can teach them for next year.

Firstly, when they have a whole body to tackle, as Cripps did then, don't tackle around the neck. Secondly, when tackling, don't look at the ball in the players hands, keep your eyes on the hips. Every rugby player knows that and that is why they desperately need a rugby tackling coach to teach them that basic principle.

The fact is that players can learn, as you can see from Roccas teaching of Casboult. Levi has become a dead eye dick lately and all it has taken is employing the right bloke to do the job.
Title: Re: Rd 19 Carlton v Collingwood -In game thread
Post by: Robblues on August 08, 2015, 04:24:13 pm
Good point Bignic, re Casboult , if he can change re his kicking when a specialist helps him, then you would think other aspects could be changed for others as well. Doesn't say much for the current crop of assist coaches then does it?
