Vale, Mike Williamson

Great commentator, great fella.

Immortalised Jezza with, "Jesaulenko, you beauty..."

RIP Mike. You were all class.

Didn't realise at the time, but was a privilege growing up listening to Mike. Feel sorry for today's youngsters who have BT and the like

Very true.  The commentators of Mike’s era described the game, they didn’t use it to pump up their egos.

RIP

Exactamundo, the term is professional!

Use to love The Penthouse Club trots (Later called Saturday Night Live) as well, once Ernie Sigley took over from Williamson and Hardy it was never the same.

Nailed. You can pack up your excavation tools, bag & tag the bones and congratulate yourself on a job well done.

And don't we appreciate it when a commentator comes along, describes the game well, takes us on the emotional ride of the game well... and has left his/her ego & self-importance outside the commentary box.

(did you like the archaeological reference  ;) ;) ;D )

I know that audiences and changed and commentators probably think that they need a box of tricks to keep viewers engaged.  However, I'd love to see prospective callers given a bunch of archival recordings from the Mike Williamson era and told to come back when they've listened to 100 hours  :)
