Robert Heatley Stand / Re: AFL Finals 2024 Carlton vs Brisbane in Brisbane
I would prefer Cincotta as a forward or even as the substitute as he is just as fast, built like a tank, a better kick and capable of contributing in many more ways.

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: AFL Rd 24 2024 Post Game Prognostications Carlton vs St, Kilda
Young wasn't too bad today, but his decision making is not good. We need to find another tall defender, as we can't relay on Young when the pressure is on.Decent defender but looks like a deer in the headlights when we make the mistake of passing the ball to him and, after his usual indecision, his disposal leaves a lot to be desired.

I'd go with Akuei before I looked Marchbank, the latter is slow and injury prone. You never some athletic youthful exuberance could be just the ticket, we may unearth our own version Mac Andrew. And I thought I was an optimist.

With the unpredictability, do we throw Lemmey into the mix or go small again?
I hope being an emergency is as close as Lemmey gets to playing AFL this season - I haven't yet seen enough from him.

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: VFL 2024 Rd 19: Carlton vs Brisbane at Carlton
Compared to games last year and earlier this year, Harry L has progressed.
Low bar Baggers - last year he was about as useful as a witches hat - this year has progressed to being as slow as a witches hat?
Mind you getting poor delivery in the VFL is probably good preparation for our AFL team if he ever gets a game.

I'd think about Lemmey as well.
He is tall and can take an overhead mark when not under (VFL-level) pressure but has yet to show that he can offer the same low level contribution as Young. Still in the slow development phase.

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: The Great Ruck Debate.
Another example of how unimportant the need for 2 rucks is, when you get by with half of one for the almost the whole game.Yes, BUT ...
We got a brief look at how bad we can be if that solitary ruck is injured. Apart from the centre clearance issues, losing McKay from the forward line for an extended period makes it much easier for opponents to negate Curnow.
If we are going to play only one ruck, I would seriously consider selecting Young as the injury substitute in any must-win game. I don't believe the substitute has represented a significant tactical benefit and Young would represent a true injury-sub option to provide a tall option in the ruck and in case any of our injury-prone defensive talls goes down - even Weitering has been shown to be prone to being hobbled.
