Title: Rd 18: In Game Angst: Carlton vs Sydney
Post by: crashlander on July 23, 2016, 09:22:14 am
I've got into the habit of naming the In Game thread 'Angst'. As much as anything, it is probably because that is how I feel until the siren goes and I get a flood of Dopamine through my brain (assuming that we win. :) :) ). I am never certain until the game is over and I always want the Blues to run out the 4 quarters.
It is worse when the game is Interstate and I can't get there and especially bad when the game is not on TV. At least this game is on TV in Victoria, even though it is an hour and a half behind. Not sure about next week: Channel 7 do things in strange ways.

Anyway, enjoy!

Nice to see the boys up and about, and nice to see a bit of Hawthorn-like opportunism with that 2nd goal.

But I wish they would stop selling their teammates into trouble with poor decisions.

Nice smother by Kruzer has had a few touches early ,

Very scrappy , closed up game not much free space. Lack of skills contributing to that

Maybe it's because we've played well, but I've found it rather absorbing thus far. Given the wind and small ground, I've seen much worse in Sydney.

Certainly some great flashes of positive team play, mixed in with some scrappy play. But seem to lost in defence at times, they seem to not know how to play Buddy atm

Yes agree - too many easy marks inside our D50.

Two bad errors cost goals...Buckley not hard or strong enough vs Josh Kenendy...goal
Cripps didnt produce a 2nd effort vs Buddy...goal...

Very good endeavour from the boys but skills let us down too often. Still I can see we are starting to move forward and signs are encouraging. Nice mark and goal from Charlie C.

Buddy is fantastic.  :(

Cripps should have chased him a second time after missing the tackle ...stood there watching...

Ahh Kerridge you goose.

He makes too many errors for mine, just not damaging enough. We need someone better IMO.

Weitering very quiet.

Took a nice defensive mark towards the end of the 2Q, but agree that he's very quiet so far.

Ed Curnow is quickly moving from C grade to B grade and moving up. A great stopper who is now winning plenty of his own ball.

Puss needs to take first option and make his disposals count.

Gibbs, Cripps and Ed Curnow all having very good games, Kerridge and Graham busy but their foot skills leave a bit to be desired, Buckley much better this week.
We're some sort of chance but we need something from Casboult if we're going to win it.
Kreuzer and Phillips both playing well.

Still a sniff.

As a curiosity,  we have had two kicks just before the siren sounded.  Are they counted as efficient/effective disposals?

Certainly more fight of late, just lacking that class , and clean skill to finish of at times.can make it frustration to watch. Hard to get the reward for effort at times

Yep, our lack of skills hurts us but we don't lack endeavour, win, lose or draw we have a crack.

No idea at the moment, but it was the result of "friendly fire" from Casboult.

How did we manage to not win that one. We had the Swans on the ropes for the last 20 minutes and managed one goal.  Nobody with presence.

Oh and Casboult... see ya later!
