Robert Heatley Stand / Re: Round 15 In Game Thread - Blues v Tigers
Umpiring and skill level have been terrible. The effort has been pretty good. No Rowe or Jamo has meant we are struggling down back but the game would be in a very different place if the field and goal kicking improved to afl standard!.
I am worried about Yazz, he used to be a joy to watch. Now he lacks flare. Unfortunately I think he is trade bait and will make a lot of non Carlton people happy, like Eddie.

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: 2015 - Is This It For Matthew Watson ??
I agree he is not in our starting line up at present, with Jacksh and Jones being added to the team you would have to assume this. However his last game was very good. it wasn't just that he kicked four goals, it was how he presented himself and took marks across the half forward line that made me excited by him. The question is can he do this on a consistent basis and we will only know this at the end of the year. If he plays like that it will be the other guys who will be struggling for a game. I hope that this is the case. If not he is porbably on the list of players who won't be playing for CFC in 2016.

I do not expect him to be on the playing list in 2016. He has had 1 good game against an undersized opponent. I hope I am wrong but I doubt it. He is slow and has shown little against guys his size. I have more hope that the new boys will make it.

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: Northern Blues vs. Geelong at Preston on Sunday
I hope Waite stays (or retires). More often than not he plays as our number 1 forward and is often double teamed. I can't believe we have dropped him as Hendo hasn't been effective this season and Levi plays 1 good game in every 10 (other teams know this).

Furthermore, Waite may be undisciplined and injury prone but at least he bleeds blue. He is a father son and is obviously passionate about Carlton. Other than Hendo (who has mainly played down back) we haven't really had any tall of quality to help Waite since the Fev days. I actually wonder how good Waite would be if we had a functioning tall forward line. In any case, I hope MM sees the light and decides that Waite is worth persisting with until we bring some quality tall forwards into Carlton (at which time, he will probably have to retire anyway).

On a related note, I hate how our supporters are now so keen to trade loyal players. I also hate the fact we have a worst on ground thread. It may be worth changing the name of this forum to Carlton Supporters Club (when we win).  :(

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: R1 vs Port Adelaide @ Etihad - Pre-Match Postulating
Just looked up the TV guide for Sydney and found no coverage of our game - not happy Jan !!

I just moved to Sydney Sheik. I am also not happy!

Gents, same in ACT. Found a solution, for this game anyway...

I'm going to hook up the laptop to the TV and watch that way...

Klingas, you are a gun!
I was looking into paying for Foxtel but with a young family (who really should not be encouraged to watch tv), I cannot justify the cost.
I still may head to the local pub to watch the second half once the little one is in bed but your idea sounds a bit more attractive.

Never sure it was about coaching so much but the attitude and workrate of the players. Other than the odd moment of   the last 11 years it been an ingrained problem since 2002. With the players we do have we should do alot better. This is what MM has inherited and that's sometimes harder to fix than a lack of talent. He did it once at the Pies, hopefully he can do it again. Ratts coached well  enough but that workrate and attitude problem reared itself last year again.

Now it's MM's turn to see if he can sort it. When he makes list changes he can look at the players who's attitude and workrate is poor as much as those who he's thinks aren't going to cut it. No good had talent if you're adverse to the idea of gut running and doing the basics, Parko did this in his first year back in 1991. We lost the last 8 of the year that year so he cleaned the list out of not only those who weren't going to cut it but those who wouldn't work hard enough either. In the end he got the type of team he wanted and eventually won a flag.

Great post Laj.
The only thing I can add is that the development and/or recruiting has not been up to scratch. There seems to be a significant gap between our best 15 or so players onwards. In a newspaper report David King (I think) pointed out that our lack of talent from players under 23 is staggering.
I am finally in Sheik's corner and believe we need to make some hard calls. The problem is will we be able to recruit players better than the ones we have and how long will it take to rebuild? The other thing is do we need to change our recruiting and development departments? Based on what I have seen, it needs a serious review (again).
Carlton now, have to forget about short term gain and once again build a team for the future.  >:(
Forget about attacking MM, we are now stuck with him for a while and he deserves the chance to rebuild this team.
