Robert Heatley Stand / Re: AFL Rd 13 2024 Pre Game Prognostications Carlton vs Essendon
Presumably it'll be Goldstein rucking with Wright as backup? If so, it'll be TDK and Harry again and I reckon Harry offers more around the ground while on-ball than Wright does. And TDK would have Goldstein covered around the ground too. So no changes on that front IMO.

Only change I could see is if Motlop fires in the VFL then he would come in....likely for Fantasia. Other than Wright and Jones, I don't think Bombers are that tall in the forward line unless I'm missing someone. Stringer will be a tough match up but one I could see Kemp taking on.

agreed Pew....Walsh was guilty of it quite a bit in the first half with his kicks into the F50....but hard to criticise him with his workrate and efforts. He's just a machine. And there were those rumours pre-season about his back injury being way worse, he was likely for surgery, it could be career ending etc....he hasn't missed a beat since he came back in and would be on his way to AA consideration again.

The usual suspects stood up again, but gotta love the contributions we're getting from the lesser names who are playing their role.....Kemp, Fogarty, Boyd, Cincotta, Elijah Hollands (close to his best game last night). Kemp makes the odd blunder but really looks to have a lot more confidence to take the game on now.

Elijah Hollands might prove to be a bit like the Acres trade for us.

Probably TDK's best game too...up there with the 3 goal burst against GWS. He doesn't seem to be as worried about the big ruckman opponents...just jumps over them. Then he's almost Kruezer like when the ball hits the ground in the centre square...very good below his knees.

We seemed to have the better of them for most of the night and thoroughly deserved that win. For the most part the new holding the ball interpretation worked okay, except when Port got tackled with it! Horne Francis is a great player but very good at ducking into tackles and winning kicks when I thought that was your prior?

As for Cripps...what else can be said that hasn't already? If he keeps this up, he'll be right there when the votes are being counted in the last round.

Assuming no injuries out of last night, it's possible we go into next week's game with an unchanged lineup again? If either of Motlop or Marchbank have solid games in the VFL this weekend, that's the only change I can see happening.

Yeah I don't think they'll risk Rozee....pretty sure they have the bye next week.

Cincotta probably not a bad option on JHF, especially when he goes forward.

To be honest, I can't see us making too many changes from last week unless there's any late injuries we don't know about. I'm not sure there's a lot to be gained by changing the sub from Carroll to Binns.

If it's wet as some have indicated, they might just ruck Soldo and one of Finlayson or Marshall.....hard to see them having Dixon, Marshall and Finlayson up forward in the wet, along with Georgiades....and without Rioli.

If it's up against Finlayson or Marshall then H would be fine. If it's up against Finlayson, Kennedy could probably be enough of a chop out for 5-8 minutes each quarter.

The free kick farce in the first 3 quarters was laughable. I don't remember one of our great tackles being rewarded despite the umpires giving them an eternity to get rid of it. Harry was grappled and scragged in most marking contests too.

Disappointing to let them pinch a few easy goals at the end when a 10 goal percentage booster was there for the taking.

But no real passengers I can think of.

As much as I love Pitto, we do seem to gel a bit better when it's TDK and Harry supporting. At times in the F50 it was Cripps and Kennedy taking the ruck contests too.

Charlie needs to work harder when things aren't going his way. That said, he should've kicked 6 in the end and he did turn it around after half time. It was like Mac Andrew had a beacon on his head in the first half....the number of times we kicked it straight to where he was or on top of the head of our smallest forwards.

For mine....Motlop, Fogarty and Saad all in if fit. There's not much else left. Out goes Fantasia, Cincotta and Durdin.

Then a replacement for Pitto. Do we bring in Young to do some rucking or just go with Harry as backup and bring in someone else? There's not too many left in the VFL that I can think of to come in so maybe Cincotta stays in and Williams plays a bit more in the middle/forward?
