Week in and week out four of our best five are our senior players so I don't think there is any dissent among the playing group.
It's simply that much of the talent that we have is raw and the run of the mill players that we've surrounded them with (Casboult, Mullet, Lamb, Kennedy, Graham etc.) aren't good enough.
We won't see any real improvement and consistency until our youngsters have another 40 games in them and we've been able to replace some or all of our scrubbers.

I have no idea if there's any issues among the players, and disagree on Kennedy, but agree on everything else.

I need to see a few more tricks from Kennedy before I'm convinced that he's anything more than an honest battler, he's the bloke you recruit when you can't get Mitchell, O'Meara, Treloar, Dangerfield or Kelly.
Our midfield last night consisted of Cripps, a couple of triers and a couple of green as grass kids, that won't win many games of AFL football.
The only thing in this world worth more than a hill of beans is the Carlton Football Club.

Issue is, if the players aren't putting in any fair dinkum effort at all then there is a problem far removed from ability. We've had one period since 2001 where this hasn't been an issue at some stage, 2008-13 and we there got hamstrung theren having Wayne Hughes as our recruiter. As Lods said, what is happening within the dynamics of the club

Fair enough. I've seen glimpses of him which make me think he's better than an honest battler. He's surely injured, and with only him and Cripps and then daylight in the midfield, it's hard to shine and put your best foot forward.

Personally, I reckon he'll make it.

Mothball Kreuzer, next week it's Naitanui, no point rucking a bloke who cannot jump or move freely.

Let Casboult ruck 50/50 with someone like Phillips or Jones.

Bring Rowe in for Plowman or Weitering both which seem to be carrying an injury.

Get Casboult out of F50, bring in Kerr as Charlie's conspirator, send SoJ back to the magoos to find some genuine form!

Get Jones further up the field with the remit to hit the contests and bring the ball to ground. Get the kids roving to someone who will reliably offer a contest, Jones, Kerr or Charlie.

I reckon Lobbe would only need to raise his little finger off his death bed and he'd be straight into the 1s! ;)

Drop Thomas.

One of our best last night....let him go back and work with the kids.

(Drop the kids too)

2008-2012 was a disaster for the club and one of the major reasons we are where we are today, and before anyone gets defensive of Ratten I'm not blaming him for it, or at least not entirely although he would have had some say in the trades we made you would reckon.
Of all the players drafted or traded in during that period only Graham and Rowe remain on our list, in effect it's a lost five years.
At the moment the confidence of the group is low and even our better players find themselves under pressure and making mistakes, but when you remove Docherty, Gibbs and Murphy from a team which finished 16th last year results like last night are more or less inevitable in the short term.
The only thing in this world worth more than a hill of beans is the Carlton Football Club.

Recruiting-wise it was a real disaster for the club and hurt badly. If only we had SOS in those days. You could talk flags then. your recruiter the most important man in the club. Coach is important but you can change those. Recruiter mistakes hurt for years.

No other players come to mind LP but I'll stand corrected.
Edit: Ed Curnow as well, and while Ed has a red hot go you'd hardly build a Premiership side around him, Rowey or Nick Graham.

And Levi. Below is a horror story Table of every player we have ever drafted.

I forgot Levi as well, but some would say that Levi is forgettable.
The list you posted is a tale of woe but hardly surprising given that our President at the time of the draft's inception branded it as an illegal restraint of trade and paid no real regard to it.
Sad as it is our present predicament is largely of our own making.
The only thing in this world worth more than a hill of beans is the Carlton Football Club.

Ratten and SOS would've been such a different story. Just show how important recruiting staff is. That's the difference between a possible flag and the pits of $hit where we are now.

We have started to get things right, however it does take time. Realistically, we are paying for the sins of the past, the bill came due and we have no option but pay. Those calling for sacking the coach, management or players, simply are in denial, and, they know this to be true. We don't want to have to face it, but this is reality for 2018.

Get through this and we see a stronger Carlton for a sustained period.
