Jim Park Voting 2015 Round #1 Carlton vs. Richmond.

Well, the year has started and started as poorly as it could. I have much to say, er, write, about the debacle. However, that is for elsewhere.

It is time to put the disappointment and irritation behind us and try to find some positives, and to reward our better performers.
Remember:
[1] At least 3 players need to get a mention.
[2] No more than 10 votes for any one player.
[3] Give a rating of team performance. It can be anywhere from A+ to F and will probably be nearer the latter.
[4] Votes must add up to 15.

Last year our performances effected the number of people willing to vote for this prestigious award. Hopefully we can provide some good reasons to vote as the reason goes on.

Carlton vs. Richmond Voting:

Team:   E
A very uninspired performance from about half way through the 2nd quarter. We really struggled and didn't have the class to alter the course of the game. They wanted it more than we did. I hated that.

Votes:
[2.5]   Docherty
[2.5]   White
[2]   Simpson
[1.5]   Carrazzo
[1.5]   Judd
[1.5]   Wood
[1]   Gibbs
[1]   Curnow
[1]   Bell
[0.5]   Yarran

Explanations:
[2.5]   Docherty:   Did some very nice stuff and really did give some leadership in defence. His marking and hard running were very good and his disposal much better than last year's. Even so, his opponents managed more scores than I would prefer.
[2.5]   White:   Did a great job on Martin.
[2]   Simpson:   Got a fair bit of the ball and did OK.
[1.5]   Carrazzo:   Kept his opponent out of the play and got the ball a fair bit.
[1.5]   Judd:   Couldn't keep it up, but his bursts of brilliance and centre clearances were brilliant.
[1.5]   Wood:   Did well in the ruck, but fluffed a goal that hurt us badly and didn't do much around the ground.
[1]   Gibbs:   Got a fair bit of the ball and looked very good in patches. However, his disposal was much worse than usual. He needed the run and then some.
[1]   Curnow:   A good negative job and much better form than in recent weeks, but not near his best yet.
[1]   Bell:   tried his guts out. Pity about his disposal.
[0.5]   Yarran:   Periods of brilliance, but not enough of them.

Honourable Mentions:
Smith: the lad has a long way to go, but he showed some good signs and was not as embarrassing as some of the more senior players.
Henderson: looked like grabbing the game by the throat early, but he starved after quarter time and his mistakes were lethal.
Jones: if we had any idea how to feed a forward he might have got a few more goals,
Menzel: not too bad, but his relative lack of intensity was really worrying.

Other Comments:
Murphy: Shouldn't have played. he was so far off the pace that it was embarrassing. He really needs to find some form and fitness. He has neither at the moment. He also needs a good dose of intensity.
Thomas: Is he cursed or something? Don't rush him back. let him find some form and fitness, rather than sacrificing him.
Malthouse: Our forward structures are abysmal and need surgery. Look at the way Hawthorn and Geelong move the ball to their forwards!
Jaksch: the lad had a shocker and must go back to the VFL. Play him in a couple of weeks when he has got some confidence back. He was a real liability.

Our jets misfired last night.  Judd looked rusty and got caught more with it than he ever has.  A couple of contests he was brushed aside like he wasn't there.  He almost looks cooked.  Worrying as although he didn't make my votes he was one of our better players.

Yarran.  When he is going he is spectacular but a guy of his ability simply cannot impersonate the invisible man.  He did it for a half and missed targets when he needed to hit them. He is a bloke that should be held in high esteem based on his ability and he is not quite living up to it.
