The dees might be a worse basket case than we are but one thing they can do is get their hands on the ball. They have a negative differential like we do but I don't think they have been as poor as we are in getting our hands on the pill first.
Its at either end of the ground were they are worse off than we are but I expect them to outpossess us on Saturday
Carlton is a bit like the curious case of Benjamin Button, by the end of the year Ciaran will be so crap he'll be on a one way ticket back to Ireland...
I think this will be quite close. Their better mids have been OK this season compared to ours who are all seemingly out of form. Overall we are the more talented side but with the team so out of form and lacking confidence and a sense of fear and trepidation emanating from Princes Park, we may see a side so petrified of failure there may be inaction!
I can envisage a team of players so reactionary that they may have the game dictated to them by a fellow rabble side. My worry is more that our players are scared to keep failing whilst the dees are now so far beyond that they may actually not care and therefore not be scared of losing and be a chance to come out on top
I've said it the last two years and I'll give him one last go - Yarran I'm expecting AA type year, significantly more midfield time, average 20+ possessions a game, becoming a top 30 player in the comp
He has the talent and just needs the desire and unwavering commitment.
We have a few players like that, if they all lift 5% then look out!
Do we risk players with injury clouds? (Judd, McLean, Scotland). They will face a similar dilemma with Reiwold, Newman and White. Pace will be important. Selection will be critical.
NO!
We are not reliant on any of those players to win and it is critical fit players take the field
It is extremely disappointing that Eddie, Jeff and Chris has all seemingly been unable to cope with MM and have crumbled in varying degrees when the blowtorch was placed on them in regards to discipline and application. This week may be the last game they play together
Do you think that says a lot more of their character than MM as a coach?
I think it has more to do with their character. It just seems like another example of the fragility and softness of the group in general and as highlighted here – Eddie, Jeff and Chris. In particular Chris who is proving to be a very frustrating talent. Inconsistent and failing to live up to his potential and make any acceptable incremental gains as an AFL player year after year. At this stage of his career he should be well advanced to where he is now. Jeff’s indiscretion is deplorable and cannot be tolerated. Eddie has been a marvellous servant and I am a big fan but his contract demands are excessive. He has been disappointing this year – perhaps unable to come to grips with MM and a generous contract elsewhere could be a convenient exit from Carlton
Mick needs to be given some time to implement his mantra and dictate his values to the group. The boys should be made of sterner stuff and take it on the chin.

A part of me likes that results like this happen (& dogs, saints, etc) because it reiterates just how poor our list and finals prospects are. We are mediocre! No sugar coating can change that. I hope the off season is brutal because we could be a decade plus away from premiership glory if we keep treading water like this. We've lost our edge and ruthlessness and have accepted mediocrity
