Robert Heatley Stand / Re: Rd 1 Carlton vs Richmond Post Game Prognostications
Good call there PI2C. When he lined up for that deadset gimme in the last, I had no doubts he'd miss, 'cos by then his kicking demons had well and truly settled inside his head. He would've been a mess by then.

He's our version of Cloke. Great mark but cant kick to save himself. Can improve if he works at it as last year proved. Just wondering as he had a PCL injury and a short pre-season if his kicking was effected in the last half due to fatigue?

They couldn't move in the last five minutes.  There were moments when the game was being played in slow motion.  And Richmond's older, tougher bodies won out.

Thought our five newbies played well.  Wright kicked three goals and while he dropped in and out of the game, I'll take three goals from him anyday.

Phillips rucked very well and did more around the ground in 100 minutes than Warnock did in however many years he was at the club.

Lamb put on great forward pressure even if he didn't get much of the ball.

Weitering was fantastic.  Lost his man a couple of times, but was so composed and assured down back.

Kerridge faded in the last quarter.  Got plenty of hard ball, and had some great moments, but his kicking wasn't great.  Still liked his hard nut play.

Murphy, Simo and Cripps were magnificent.  Yes Murph and Cripps struggled in the last, but one is in his third year and the other was under prepared.  I adore Cripps.

Everett dropping that mark and Bolt's easy miss were the killers in the end.

Was listening to the game on the radio and we had one rotation left with 7 minutes to go and Richmond had 6 or 7 although not quite sure if that is an accurate number. The last interchange was Murphy coming on for the last 5 mins. So may of contributed to the fade out in the end.

Buckley put a huge amount of defensive pressure on. The processions and goals will come. I will be surprised if he is dropped.

x2

A couple of tackles on Houli when he was running through the centre. One was marked by Carlton I think,  and one was a turnover that resulted in a goal to us from the turnover. Not a great game but applied pressure with his tackling when he got the opportunity.

No FTA & no radio in Sydney and ........ we win !!

Can't take a trick ....... :(

All I know after receiving a phone call is that Cripps played a blinder and the whole team played like men possessed.

Have to ask the question again, how much of this is attributable to Malthouse going and how much is it to do with a new game-plan & attitude ??

The other thing is, what has today done for Barker's chance of getting the gig next year ??

New coach = new attitude = happy supporters !!

Nice to know they are going to be competitive every week from now, it was so hard to stomach some of the performances earlier in the season.

The other thing is, some players who would have been considered a strong chance to be shown the door at the end of the season may end up being offered an extension if they keep up this renewed level of application. Its easy to boot guys who are just going through the motions but now, those who are busting their buns week after week deserve to be rewarded for that level of persistence.

Sheik,

You can open afl.com.au and click on the game that you want to listen to and then click on listen live or something like that. You will have a choice of several radio stations streaming the game live to listen from.

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: ELIMINATION FINAL : Ninth Beats Ninthmond (Ha Ha Ha Ending)
The "don't deserve to be there" argument never had any legs to it IMO.

No doubt KB will raise it, Gerard still fuels it and the majority of non Carlton supporters believe it.

Yes like most of the tigers supporters who were bitching about us not having a right to be there on Sunday. Just laughed and made the victory all the more sweeter.  :)  :)  :)

What a great win by the blue baggers. My BIL is a Richmond support and I absolutely gave it to him, bombarded him with about 10 SMS's after the game. The team was just fantastic and I have to agree with most of the posters about it been the second best final that I have seen apart from winning grand finals, the 1999 prelim been the best.

I thought that playing Riewoldt up the ground played into our hands as Edwards could not kick straight and Vickery was not as effective as he has been in the past. If Edwards was the leadup forward and Riewoldt takes the marks in front then he would of more likely converted those points into goals. The guys just don't give up and MM has instilled into them a never die attitude. They play for him and they will walk over hot coals for him. He has earned his pay this year and is worth ever cent. I only wish that Geelong would of won on Saturday as we would play them in the prelim instead of Freemantle in Perth. However in the words of MM one week at a time. Go Bluessssssssssssssssssssss.
