My hope is that by the end of the year the likes of White ,Armfield,Rowe,Thomas have been passed by others and are only talked about as back ups.That we are in all games up to our ears from start to finish even if we loose so that other sides walk away saying we played a good young side today and not like it has been in the past where they say we are only playing carlton today.Respect on the ground is what we have to earn like the good sides have,win loose or draw they have to know they played a side that gives everything plays hard and plays fair and never concedes defeat without giving effort.If that is achieved we will win more and more as our players become bigger stronger and more experienced and we will have earns respect ,which we have lost.No one over the last few years have respected us as a football team even the worst teams believe with a bit of effort they will beat us,the scum and lions last year believed we were beatable and did. It is all about respect and effort nothing else matters as when u have theses the wins will take care of themselves.Players will want to play for the once again mighty blues.
I think the loss will do us more good than harm,it puts into perspective where we are at as a football team the last thing you want is a lot of honourable losses so the club and supporters start to think we are already there,theses sort of losses will only make the club and coaching stall work harder to bridge the gap.As long as we have the likes of army,jamo,walker,jones,Rowe and a couple of others in our side we will never ever match it with the big boys. We may beat the bottom half of the ladder but that's where we have been since 95.When Casboult,and down the line somewhere C Curnow ,McKay,Silvagni.are all in our team we may have a forward line and some structure.We really are a key backman short at the moment and a couple of hard nut inside mids,as soon as murph ,Gibbs and Cripps are off we really struggle and our only true ruckman at the moment is kruezer,I have high hopes for Philips as I thought he has got something going for him,let's hope he is not another Kruezer and injury prone.Buckly,Tutt and Graham are another three that will have there papers stamped at the end of there contracts as none of the three are anything special and never will be.They try hard and I love them for that but what top team would any of them get a game with.if you are judging our players judge them on who would make a Hawks or Swans side and that will tell you exactly where they are. Like it or not at least it's my opinion.
Why waste a chance to get games into the kids ,Jamo ,Walker,Army will all be lucky to be there past this year,don't get me wrong they are some of my favs,but it is time to play the kids and see the green shoots ,it will make it better for the future than going back to the past.They all played last year and where did we finish,give the kids a go if they don't work out at least we know.I would rather watch the future than a replay of the past.You can add Rowe ,Jones and tuhey into that group as well because if they are not under contract I can see them being gone as well.The thought of watching Bokhurst,Jaesch,and down the track Sosos and others will get me to more games than watching the past.
The problem is not Gibbs,Murph and Cripps it is the layer under them.Graham is not up to it Kerridge may get there and who else is there,Simmo no on baller either is buckly,and at this stage I don't know about wright.Thomas maybe curnow try's he's guts out .but when of Gibbs Murph or. Cripps go of the ball our on ballers are terrible.At the game yesterday Phillips and Kruezer both won there share of hit outs but the question to me is not wether the swans were sparking but if our rucks can hit it to our players.Phillips was head and shoulders above Tippett and the other plodder.The reason they kicked goals was as soon as the ball was bounced they ran forward knowing there on ballers would get it and kick it forward where our rucks were still in the center fighting for they ball.whichh meant the likes of doc and simo had to mind two men including a ruckman it does not work.So stop blaming the likes of Gibbs Murph And Cripps it's the next tier that let's us down. Check the stats of Everitt,lamb,Graham,Rowe etc that's the trouble not the top end but the bottom 6 or 7. Like it or not at least that's my opinion
I would be more inclined to play White back where he seems more comfortable and even be tempted to play him on Jack just to annoy the crap out of him and crunch him fairly every time they go near the ball and play Rowe forward.Wietering could take the yabby Vickery and Jamo the other tall forward.White has at least got some mongrel in him and wont be pushed around,and has got the ability to play tall,White seems a much better player when he is assigned a task rather than being just sent out to play.
I have five girls and yes they do come out okay after there teens,if you stay sane long enough to see it .But wouldn't swap them for anything as they are always on my side and they support the blues not like there swan supporting mother.
