Robert Heatley Stand / Re: 2018 Rd 21 Post Game Prattle: Carlton vs Freo in Perth
Usual mix of good bits here and there, with a lot of the usual. Good to see a few improved signs from SPS, he is getting involved and winning contests.
Our lack of possessions down back is one of the big problems. Our defenders are not able to share the ball, so the midfilders are too deep, resulting in shallow entries and the ball coming out fast. Too much left to too few as always
Oh well, only a couple of games left from a wretched season.

Pleasing to see measured responses on the board. We have been hammered by injury and have a list that is bottoming out. GWS meanwhile have depth and have played in prelims the past two years and should make the GF. They are peaking and the pounding we got is the sign of a team on a mission. If they get to a GF against Richmond, it will be a great clash of contrasting styles. I would back GWS - precision kicking trumps mad pressure.
Good to see McKay, SPS, Dow play well. They are the future, and lots to look forward to. Curnow and McKay could be the dominant forward duo in a couple of years - akin to Franklin-Roughhead at their peak.

GC were awful and missed swallow a lot, but we have had plenty of injuries in games: it shows how much effect they have.
Felt we won off the back of getting numbers to the contest, placing pressure on GC midfield. We spread a little better than usual also, allowing us cleaner ball movement forward which translates into more entries and score.
Hope weitering pulls up OK. He played a fine game, and we looked more organised down back with some dash thanks to Byrne.
Go blues!

Baby blue was the most God awful thing we've ever worn.
Awful away jumpers being put into perspective with what Hawthorn is wearing right now. Pink and brown stripes? Really?
Hawthorn's away strips are in a different realm of bad. Its a standing joke.

Consider this, who on our list would you say does have good skills?
Confining this comment to our experienced players, pretty much none.

Murphy is the worst captain in the comp.
Simply does not impact games
Yep, simply awful. Its our biggest problem. Our few senior players are either quiet as a mouse or hacks or both. End curnow's skills are not league standard, nor arr Rowe, Jones or Thomas. Its a sorry looking list.

I just don't know what to think about the club anymore. The 'hope' they have sold us members for the past 3 years is getting thinner every week.
I get we are rock bottom. We have a bunch of inexperienced draftees, some shop worn retreads and a sprinkling of veterans that are only OK at best. Two genuine A graders are the only bright spots. But to get belted by the 17th place team by 10 goals is finding rock bottom and digging further.
The biggest disappointment to me are the experienced players. The likes of Murphy, Ed Curnow, Thomas, Wright, Kruezer and Rowe, however hard they may be trying seem incapable of organising their team mates, i.e. leading. These are 10 year league level players. We were cut up time and time again because we were utterly disorganised, allowing Beams, Zorko and Hodge open space. We can blame the coaching all we like, but I cannot believe that it is a coaching issue. It is a lack of discipline and leadership on the field that allows a team to play so poorly as a team.
Just can't see myself bothering to attend any more games this year.

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: Post Game-Carlton v Collingwood
Was the first game all season where we showed the type of ball movement we are aiming for. It has appears a few times, but it was implemented several times. Really encouraging and allows zones to be overcome.
Bad for plowman. Hopefully just a jarred knee without any longterm damage.

Christian has never really impressed me - always thought he was a d/h on Ch10.
He is a dill, but the function should not sit with one person who thinks it is sensible to comment via media. AFL thinks it can solve all issues via media management.

Hope he can bring those insights to us and is strong enough to make a positive difference in our environment then.
The coach too. He, if we forget, has been very successful and cone out of the best coaching school we have ever seen at league level.
The press conference was good from Bolton. There was none of the forget about it and move on stuff. He said the players must dwell on this loss and learn from it. Its the essence if team sport turn around. Stand fast board. Bolton is the coach we need and have.

Boy its getting hard to keep the youngster keen on Carlton. Attended open training yesterday, but even that was pretty underwhelming, with only a few players sticking around to sign stuff.
Bad signs of lethargy and giving up are there and its not even halfway through a very grim season. Brisbane currently leading...

Seeing the effects of getting games into players. Like the look of two key forwards with 50 plus games each. Bit of luck with injury and curnow and Mackay will play together for the rest of the season, and that is a forward line to build around
