last night I said once the hawks lead 40 to 10, they would motor away with it and manage the game.
We are incapable of doing this. As soon as they got out to a 10 point lead, you just knew we were done. Mentally weak. Sure its hard to stay up, but it isnt impossible.

Come in fresh after a break, while the wildcard sides are non-stop after the end of a hard home and way season, Shown the same in the 3 years it's been in the VFL with only one wildcard side winning the EF and the average loss being 10 goals. In most cases the EF's was contested still between sides 5th to 8th but the margins have been much bigger.
That's how it should be too. A big reward for being top 6.

We lost a lot of Flexibility with Haynes. He was tall enough to pinch hit if we ended up having to shuffle the magnets and release a tall to another role. He was genuinely able to play on a wing as well with good aerobic capacity.
From the remainders, if we had to choose a bit of a tweener type, it would have been Ison.
Emergencies list Boyd, Ison and Reiddy. Boyd wouldnt be a bad selection. Has played finals, is a running type, and has decent capability with ball in hand. Umpires seem to hate him though and he infringes a lot for borderline stuff. He has also been out of favour a bit.
The interchange lists Wilson, Hewett, Young, Evans and Cotters suggesting if the change were to occur and its a tall out, it would be Lewis Young.
Personally Young for Boyd is neither here nor there. We definately don't want Reiddy in. Ison is the one who probably would execute better in the conditions, and more capable of being a game winner.
Haynes out is a big loss. Been very good for us. Feeling less confident without him back there as he is one of those quiet achievers who finds himself in the right place at the right time.
The cats generally dont tag which works in our favour IMHO.
They use a more mobile ruck setup than traditional, and I would toy with the idea of player derkson over Young if Hayward isnt in.
Whilst there is a debate over rucks vs non rucks, you would have to speak to Pittonet, and then work out if he is happier going up against Blicavs and Edwards with a Young, or a different part timer.
Hollands and Ainsworth deserve additional Kudos as they were swimming against the tide when melbourne were well on top IMHO. Of course, Dean and Weitering were no slouches in this regard, but still sometimes to get going you need a few good soldiers who just keep on keeping on.
I didn't think that Melbourne was on top at any stage. They were certainly on top on the scoreboard in the first quarter but we were playing better footy.
The player who I thought really got us going was Cotters with his link up work. If only he hadn't kept aiming at the posts
Thats not how I saw the game, but I was sitting on a half forward flank on one side of the ground. For mine, I though Ainsworth was the main difference maker early.
I want to also dot point something. The demons finish better they may very well have put the game beyond us early. I know we finished quite poorly ourselves, but they were 4.3 at quarter time to our 1.3, and whilst we bettered them in the second, the third was a knife edge with them kicking 2.4 to our 3.3.
The final quarter was one way traffic, but I didnt really feel comfortable until then due to the fact that we were struggling to generate scores from our posession chains, and the ball was getting turned over on the kick into forward 50.
Once again, Frankie evans was clamped down on, and once again we struggled.

I work with robots all day everyday, it's a full-time job just keeping them moving, despite being fully engineered for hazardous environments we have to keep them positively pressured with air or nitrogen just to stop them seizing. A handful of fine grit is like cyanide to them!
I've found if you take them out for a drink after work and get to see them in a more relaxed environment it helps to break down some of those barriers.

Ultimately, Kruddler, your logic is fine, but on what I have personally watched at VFL level, the club has got the balance about right. Your opinion of Reiddy though, is exactly that.
