Who comes into the emergency spot instead..... Flynn Young is probably first up. Charleson would be close. I'd look at Saad over Fogarty, but both have the experience....if you wanted to go down that path. Otherwise is Zac Williams fit currently?
Boyd has shown better form than Flynn Young neither of them are ahead of Ben Campo or Harry Charleson on season form, not just recent form.
If Derkson is your first choice, then you only bring in Reidy if two players break down and one of them is Pittonet so that makes sense why he is 3rd emergency. If we lost two players, Ison is the mixed size that can play tall or small and is more of a like for like of Hayward who is also missing.
Saad is too one dimensional as a back. Is very much cooked anyway. Fogarty before Ison... Nope. Not buying that. Fogarty looks like he has run his race with Carlton, so playing Ison in a knock out final makes more sense.
Ultimately, when it comes to it, you cant put your money where your mouth is, and are picking on the 3rd emergency insurance option is likely trying to be outraged for being outraged sake.
A better question to be asked is are the emergencies a reflection of whom we have doubts about getting up?

IMO we have 3 'talls' as emergencies as is. What is wrong with 1 tall? Derkson.

Also, our team needs to be looked at up against Melbournes.
I can't remember the exact figures (and honestly don't care to check), but Melbourne have gone in VERY SMALL by comparison. There was a breakdown of relative heights and we were giant in comparison. We have 3x 200cm players, they have 1 (Gawn) We have something like 6-9 more 190cm players than they do. Why do we need more talls on the emergency list?
I understand all that, but which small would you take as emergency instead?
You see talls listed as emergency, but I see a medium, a tall, and a ruck. We need the ruck for Pittonet. Depending on the back, its Derkson, and depending on the Forward its Ison. If we lost a mid, you would likely move Hollands, Florent or Lord into the midfield mix, and bring in one of Ison or Derkson to supplement the line we have robbed a player from.
FWIW: if Pittonet were to get injured in warm up, would you want to take Derkson in or Reidy?
Of the players not selected, over the course of the AFL season, the ones most likely to come in and show form are Harry Charleson as small number 1, and Ben Camporeale as small number 2.
If you particularly wanted a small, Charleson is limited he is a small defender only. In the midfield mix, Ben is not an outside runner at all, and you would argue that using Evans, Ainsworth or Lord on ball would be more useful, so despite what you think, I reckon the MC have a pretty good grasp on the emergencies giving the options as required.
I wont really talk to much about Reidy. Its him or Riley if Pittonet had issues, because Max Gawn is not the sort of ruck you use Lewis Young, Derkson or Mckay on.

We are going in favourites, with the stronger team on paper. I spoke to a Dees fan earlier who is less than enthused with his sides chances. He is a very pragmatic footy supporter and came second on the tipping ladder this year.
All im gonna say is, make sure you have some basic skills to live without tech.
You dont need to apocalypse plan, but the way its heading, we might have to survive without fighting the AI overlords, but we might not be able to use things embedded into every day life.
Water purification, fuel, payment etc. That means having a degree of self sufficiency. You dont have to be fully self reliant, but knowing how to garden will go a long way. The more information you know, the better. We might go to the stone ages for a bit. Ive got a fairly good stock of things that will keep us going for a season.
Oh and keep a few hundred dollars available in case of emergency. I forsee a situation where EFT payments cant happen for a brief period, and the ability to transact might be back to cash only.

Its an obvious change, but the idea that cox let's the team get away with things longmire wouldnt doesnt sit right with me.
Cox may turn more of a blind eye given his history with cousins and kerr, but thats an assertion. Odds are these guys do this stuff all the time, unless you think they're unlucky enough to get trouble the one time theyve done it, and stupid enough to only have done it as they head into the final round of the season.

Was it goof for Melbourne to recruit Grundy? Grundy is good, perhaps the 2nd best ruck in the game. Did it improve Melbourne though? Could they have used his $'s better elsewhere?? 12 months later answered the question was answered for all of us. Not a knock on Grundy in all of that. Just not the best fit at the time....and Dees didn't benefit from it.

Grundy at Melbourne is the worst example you could have thought of. Here's one, does jack martin give geelong anything mannagh doesnt?
As i said, i'm not suggesting he is better than Florent. I'm not suggesting Charleson is better than Florent......or Ollie Hollands.
But given the contract that we gave Florent....years and $'s....does he offer us that much more than the others. Could that money be better used elsewhere given his age on top of that?
Put it this way.....Recruiting someone like Marshall would improve our side (like Florent) but is there a long term benefit to that? Would that recruitment simply keep Reidy and Riley from getting a game.....potentially Pittonet as well.....to the point where another club could poach him leaving us worse off long term. Similar to what is happening with Ollie Hollands now, asking him to look elsewhere. So its possible to be a good addition, that is not really in our best interests long term.
Could we potentially have banked the Florent $'s and throw them at King to really fill a hole? Or perhaps Butters who has more football left.
Florent is the sort of player who has many facets to his game, and his contribution is imho invaluable around the back of stoppage. Watch he polices the back of it, and often is the second posession at the source using it well.
Charleson might be good enough, but there is a leadership, experience and multi faceted component to his play.
A lot of his knockers have egg on their face. There was no shame not being able to get a gig at sydney. They'd love to him right now.
