We were competitive for three quarters but didn't really show up after three quarter time.
To borrow Bolton's phrase, there were green shoots from Cuningham and Skittles. Smith showed that his best is outstanding but I think it's too little too late. Whiley was good and Gowers was OK.
Kerbatiah continues to impress and I'd be annoyed if another club snagged him before we can.
The commentators said that SOS put Kerbatiah in the NBs as a potential rookie pick. He might get snapped up before we get a chance, though.
Boekhorst would be on my delist list......was running towards a contested ball and Kaidan Brand from Hawthorn was the player coming the other way and Boekhorst put the anchors out and pulled up......not good enough and not for the 1st time he has done that either.....players like this wont take us far and he has to go IMO...
If AFL Player Ratings are anything to go by, he was our best.
I'd like to see SOS push up to the wing, drop Phillips only because I don't think two ruckmen is working, and bring in both Jaksch and Jones up forward. We need to take some marks i50.
Jaksch isn't good enough at AFL level. Sumner did well to earn that shot late but small forwards have to nail them, his ball to Curnow earlier was good. I think he shows enough to persevere with, I'd replace Lamb with Boekhorst for next week, and Jaksch with Jones.
I thought Jaksch was better when he was moved in to defence and Weitering forward. I always thought he'd make a better defender, just doesn't have the presence to be a key forward. Worth keeping on the list as depth in defence for another couple of years IMO.
On another note, I can see why we were willing to get rid of Menzel and didn't go real hard for Ben Lennon. SOS is better than both.
Our forward six functions better with him in it than without him and he is good for one goal a game.
Since he has been dropped we haven't really fired and Casboult has found it much harder to function.
Sure he isn't great, but I thought he was doing enough to keep his spot and that he was stiff to be dropped.
Has been reasonably good with minimal service in the twos too.
Coaches prefer two ruckmen and Jones/Gorringe were in while Phillips was injured. I think we just have to choose, Kreuzer or Sauce, because two ruckmen doesn't seem to be working.
