Robert Heatley Stand / Re: R1 Carlton vs Power After-match Aftermath
To do this we must recruit one man only, SOS must come home. Look at what he has created in GWS, it is his team. Now is the time to bring him back and rebuild this team from scratch. Trade everyone with any currency, give the team five years, gut this list.
With all due respect to SOS, he has had 22 top 10 draft picks to work with. I could have picked those blokes and come up smelling of roses. Still would love to have the great man back home and I agree with you that it may well be time to gut the list and start the re-build. I honestly believe we have missed the boat as far as challenging for the flag goes and the way GWS is traveling they'll be so hard to beat in 2-3 years it may pay to bypass their era and have a real crack when they're on the decline. I will most probably be retired by then.  :(

How much I hate going to Etihard I can't begin to tell you. Then to have to go there on a school night just craps me even more, especially when you think it will most probably end in tears.
Boy there's certainly a couple of common themes going on here.
Bad recruiting, well when you look back all our number one picks they all were universally regarded the ones that were number 1. Unfortunately they seem to have stagnated. Kreuzer is just completely shot at the moment and I think Murph has had too many shots to the head.  A bit gun shy in my opinion. Gibbs is classy enough but lacks the grunt. I do however agree we have been drafting just about every bloke in football history who a) can't kick, b)has no pace or c) both of a & b. Really can't fault guys like Robbo or Bell for their effort but if they're lucky enough to get the ball the effect is counter productive at the best of times.
Even getting Judd and Carrots back won't address  a & b. Most frustrating thing about last night is in the 3 games I've seen we haven't been able to run out the game? WTF, what's this new conditioning coach from Collingwood doing then? Saving us for the 2nd half of the year perhaps when we'll be 2 and 9.
My God we have a new Paul Bower in Watson playing for this club. How does a beanpole like Weshoff our muscle you. It was a pathetic as anything I've seen for many a year. I'd rather have Rowe ahead of Watson at this stage.
Let's try and find 5 blokes who can kick under pressure and give the likes of Robbo, Bell, McInnes etc a break. Even a guy like Curnow who is playing his best football at the moment can't be relied on to deliver but at least he's playing well.
I hope Thomas' kicking isn't related to his ankle because if it is we've blown another 700k down the gurgler.
Would like to add more but need to get some work done!

Good effort considering I thought Gibbs, Muphy, Waite, Robbo and Yarran were all down. Credit to the newbies for their work.
No Judd, Kreuzer, Jammo, Hendo, Simmo, Carrots, Garlett and Thomas (if really fit)  makes the North look pretty average.
Maybe better than good?

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: Blues Vs Swans - post match expert analysis
@ Deags - great summary mate have to agree with all that although I am hesitant of getting rid of Yarran as he is one of the few that can actually kick the ball. Two key areas which were glaring problems last night were our run and our disposal. I get the impression from Mick he is of the same opinion. I just hope the new recruiting guy we got from Geelong knows what he;s doing.

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: ELIMINATION FINAL : Ninth Beats Ninthmond (Ha Ha Ha Ending)
The planets must still be in alignment. This side that was written off by so many after the shocking Essendenial loss have just found a will to win. It's a game of inches this great sport we have. A couple of inches the other side of the post last week and we wouldn't be celebrating one of the great wins in this clubs history. Have never hugged so many complete strangers at the footy as I did today. Trying to get the wife to go to bed so I can watch the replay but from my perspective Gibbs was BOG followed closely by Murph and the Juddmaster. Waite never to play down back again. Duigan may have saved his career and Ed Curnow (apart from his atrocious kicking) continues to deliver. We are a chance next week make no mistake. Momentum is a powerful, powerful thing.

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: ELIMINATION FINAL : Blues V Tigers (Pre-Game Patter)
I still reckon Richmond were mad for beating Essendon. They would have ended up playing Port if they dropped that game and we would've ended up playing Collingwood (given they beat North today). So many things working in our favour right now. Come from behind victory gives a team momentum regardless of how badly they've been travelling. I'd be very nervous if I was a Tiger's fan right now.

Can't just think one week ahead.   The winner of the Port final will most likley get Fremantle at Fremantle now that the Cats are playing at SS.

Right, but the winner of our final will most probably play Sydney in Sydney so what's the point? At least if Richmond had've played Port they would most probably have had a win. I think they will have more trouble against us.

not if the hawks lose buddy.  I think Syd win that first one..  It will be two brutal game games for either of those sides.
Ok, so not the point I was trying to make. So the winner plays Hawthorn, whatever. The point is more about having a better chance to get to the second week of finals. Nevermind

I am embarrassed that we are playing finals with our performances this year and hold no excitement going into this weeks game. We have 11 wins for the season and many times have looked completely inept. I would rather just have the off-season roll on and see how next year shapes.
Well, I feel sorry for you. I am definately excited even if we don't deserve to be there. I know we haven't been great this year but maybe, just maybe we do produce a game like we did against the Dawks at stinlin Ethard earlier this year when we were robbed by the maggots. I live in hope that the planets will be in alignment and we do produce because you know why? Because this will be a final in Melbourne I can actually get to. I want our season to continue because I have absolutely zero enthusiasm for any other team in the finals. It's all about me and my club. Isn't that why we are supporters?
