Blah-Blah Bar / Re: Shawny’s concerns about Victorian and Australian Governments
Never been a more corrupt party.

Trump cant fart without everyone going nuts on here yet own backyard is a shambles on so many fronts and hardly a word.

funny that.

Why do you insist on deflecting criticism of the senile narcissist in the White House with ill-considered complaints about Australian governments?

We have a thread devoted to the lunacy of the convicted felon and I started this thread to give you a platform to air what you believe are problems with our State and Commonwealth governments.

If you want to defend the indefensible, post in the Taco thread.  If you want to bleat about Australian politicians, do it here.

Interview with Fogarty in there.

Reidy before Pitto
No O'Keefe.

You have to wonder how much research they put into their selections  ::)

For example, "Brodie Kemp looks to be in doubt as he works his way back from an Achilles injury".  It's only a match sim but Kemp seems to be back to his best and working very well with Harry:

https://www.carltonfc.com.au/video/1949008/blue-view-snippet-kemp-mckay-combine-up-forward?videoId=1949008&modal=true&type=video&publishFrom=1769918451001

Yes, we occasionally use Moir as a fill in key forward when the big boys are having a breather or a spell in the ruck, but there's no way that he's going to play as first choice CHF.  The problem is though, if Kempy comes in to the 23, as I'm sure he will, who drops out?

I think that O'Keeffe will play too, at the expense of Reidy.

Define 'running'.

As DJC just stated, Cottrell and Hollands are elite runners, and have been for years now. Maybe Binns' beat them in a race here or there, but at best he was on a par with them in that area (i disagree) but was behind in every other area IMO, hence the delisting.

Moving quickly on foot? 😇

Binns got a contract extension on the back of excellent VFL form … and I’ve defended that decision in the past.  Tearing that contract up was a major u-turn and I’d love to know what the thinking behind it was.

Perhaps the bake from Vossy in his 8th and final game is the key - although Binnsy reckons his delisting was unexpected.

I don't get why the MAGA media post this stuff and think it's a positive for RedTrump, or how anybody can read it and think he some sort of righteous clarion.
Quote
The Miami Herald’s Julie K. Brown, probably the foremost reporter on the Jeffrey Epstein scandal, has revealed what Donald Trump told police all the way back in July of 2006, back when the first charges of sexual misconduct against Epstein became public knowledge.

Mr Trump told Palm Beach police commissioner Michael Reiter “everyone has known” about Epstein’s activities. He also called Epstein’s co-conspirator, Ghislaine Maxwell, “evil” and advised law enforcement to “focus on her”. He described her as Epstein’s “operative”.
I read that paragraph and think, this heavily resourced and connected Kent new what was going or in a global paedophile ring back in 2006 and chose to do feck all about it!

I suspect that he was terrified that Epstein would spill the beans ... and still is, albeit posthumously.

Certainly, competing for the same roles, but Binns' running was well above the others.

Although I think his physicality was well below those he competed with, and that might not be acceptable for a coach with Voss' history!

Anyway, it's just another speculation, I think the real question is not why he was delisted, but why he wasn't picked up because his running is elite at any level.

Cottrell and Hollands, O are elite runners, they make better use of the pill when they get it, and they play better defence.

I believe that Binnsy will be playing for Berwick in 2026 but he's also on Essendon's VFL list.  I think that supports our decision to tear up his contract.

Are you saying Bad Bunny should call for RedTrump to be deported as an invader, but then again weren't the Conquistadors invaders also? ;D

Taco's America's problem and it would be grossly unfair to impose him on any other country  :)

I was referencing the hypocrisy of Turning Back and their "All American" lip syncing show.  Bad Bunny is more "American" than any of the folk who "performed" there  ::)

Too many similar types and he didn't have any tricks, disposal was average.

O. Hollands, L. Camporeale....even Cottrell play the same role and better.

Chesser's another one, but with a decent sprint in him, if he can get on the park.

Then there's the opposition wingers he would have to match up on in the AFL and opposition VFL coaches working out how to counter his strengths.

Moir has an upside, and obvious AFL level tricks, we shouldn't be burdening him with too many negatives so early in his career.

This time next year would be the time to be more critical.

The U23 category is interesting, because it basically sits on the boundary of who will and who won't.

At 21 it's too early to write many players off, and by the time players are 25 you know if they are going to make it or not. I realise there will be some claim they told us so, "they knew" back when a player was 18 or 20, but that news always arrives retrospectively.

It’s better to set lower expectations than to anoint a youngster as the next Kouta or whoever.

Moir clearly has the skills and physical attributes to play AFL.  Just how well remains to be seen … and I’d like to be pleasantly surprised 🙂

List managers spend a lot of time assessing youngsters and they get it right most of the time now.  Of course, there will be those youngsters that slip through the net - both ways - and those that avoid the net altogether, like Alex Cincotta.

Moir is the one for me that could make a real difference if he can take the next step, the cameos he gave us last year were tantalising.

I suspect that Moir may always be a cameo player and I don't think that he'll be racking up high possessions. There's nothing wrong with that, provided he helps our forward line function, kicks a bag every now and then, and gets a clearance or two when he's thrown into the midfield; a modern day Ryan Houlihan but without the whipping boy status  :)

There's probably another story developing here.
Trump wasn't happy with the theme of the half time show.
There was an alternative more MAGA friendly show operating in tandem.
America was divided by the half time shows. :D

Divided?  One audience was around 3% of the other!

I enjoyed the official NFL entertainment but found myself wondering about the logistics that enabled it to happen.

Apparently, Bad Bunny is a descendant of the conquistador Ponce de Leon and his family history in America goes back 100 years before the Mayflower.

I cant see wealthy families investing money for their kids in a scheme that invests in ETF's that track the index etc and produces modest returns inline with what the S&P500 returns each year...

Maybe EB, but $742K isn’t bad return on $90K over 18 years, if Taco’s number crunchers have got their sums right.

If wealthy families won’t invest, it’s dead in the water because most families won’t be able to afford to.

Blah-Blah Bar / Re: Trumpled (Alternative Leading)
Economists don't seem too impressed with Taco Accounts.

Despite its limited life - children born in the next three years - the US economy simply doesn't have the capacity to fund the direct fiscal cost of over $3 billion per year and the money will most likely have to be borrowed. While these payments are a direct cost to the US government, they are a benefit to the lenders through interest. In other words, the payments and receipts cancel each other out.

However, the $1,000 grant is just a redistribution from taxpayers and lenders to newborns, and is neutral in terms of efficiency. The opportunity costs are not neutral though; when the US government borrows, it issues bonds. The investors who buy those bonds aren't investing that money in other, more critical areas of the economy like infrastructure, health, education, housing, energy, etc.

The affordability crisis means that the vast majority of American families won't be able to make contributions.  Most beneficiaries will receive $1,000 plus 18 years of compound interest and the administration reckons that will be worth $15,000.  The administration calculates that children from families that can afford to invest the maximum will have $742,000.  In other words, "It will make wealth inequality significantly worse, because it favors those who have resources to begin with,” according to David Radcliffe, from The New School’s Institute on Race, Power, and Political Economy.

William Darity, an economist at Duke University, says "Allowing those who are richer to put more in than those who are poor runs counter to any notion that there's any kind of redistributive justice taking place.”  And this is an economy where the bottom 50% of American households hold just 2.5% of the wealth.

I have that model impact driver and ... it's a genuine DeWalt  :)

Those fakes are pretty convincing though.

I like Stuart's videos; they're very informative and he doesn't pull any punches.

I was watering plants I don't want to lose this morning - until the rainwater tank ran dry.  We've had less than 2mm of rain this month and the January mean is 46mm.

And, speaking of rain, does anyone else think that the new BOM website is rubbish?
