I thought Lang could play. I was wrong.

Seen nothing from him at all. Fumbles every time and disposal is rubbish.

We are still struggling with the zone defence - players just didn't know whether to go for the man, zone off or attack the ball on quite a few occasions.  Apart from that we are at least having a go. Byrne looks OK btw.

We almost lost Cripps before the game started though!

Went off the ground, hopefully just to get some restrapping done, but who knows.

Cripps gets our 2nd goal. Only down by a goal now.

Curnowfides doing his best to get a week off next week, might go for an awkward hit on May. Forearm did bounce of the shoulder of May first.

Too many of ours simply can't get near the pill - Polson, Lang, Dow, Pickett etc....

I'd prefer giving Graham a decent run quite frankly.

Lang and polson must be the training mates.

They specialize in doing sweet feck all.

Why why why do we continue with polson.

No wonder we are a laughing stock.

No-one was thinking Kennedy could play either earlier. It's amazing how much better you play when you're fitter. Lang has had all sorts of injury issues.

Quick thinker.

Lochie OBrien with the gimme goal 5 seconds before half time.

We go into halftime with the momentum.
We go into halftime with a fully fit 22.
We go into halftime against a team with at least 1 midfield rotation down (Swallow)

You'd think...
We go into halftime favourites to win.

Weitering looks far more comfortable with Marchbank next to him. Far more composed.  Byrne looking good too. Dow was more involved and SPS is getting better by the game. Just need a bit of luck!!

Polsen is so consistent.  Every week manages to get under 5 touches and usually at around 30% effectiveness.

Had one ineffective disposal till halftime.

The boy is on target again.

How long do we play one man down and expect to win.

Post by: Barbs on July 28, 2018, 08:41:03 pm
It's almost like we have rotate Silvagni and Pickett onto the ball at some point so they have some opportunity to get a few touches.

Pickett especially - another burst or two through the middle is just what we need to liven things up. For once we're playing a team that is running less than us!

Don't get too carried away, mate. This is Carlton you are talking about! :)

Patrick Cripps 21 possessions! 4 marks and 4 tackles!

Marc Murphy: 19 possessions! 4 marks,3 tackles and more metres gained than anyone else on the ground.

Compared with:
Cam Polson: 1 possession
Sam Rowe: 2 possessions and 5 hitouts
Jarrod Pickett: 1 possession and 2 tackles
Harry McKay: 3 possessions
Jed Lamb: 5 possessions

You get my drift. We really need a lift from those who haven't had an impact so far, and there are plenty of them.

Ciaran Byrne provides another dimension for us off half back, speed and setting up down field...we’ve missed this style of play all year, Daisy doesn’t give us this drive ever...I like Byrne, looking forward to Doc and Tom Williamson back next year giving us this sort of drive, gives the forwards so much more chance!

This is a terrible game but they're the only ones we're a chance to win, so you never know.
We'd be more likely if our small forwards could get a kick.
Ciaran Byrne, welcome back mate.

To be fair to McKay, Pickett and even Polson the ball movement and delivery into 50m hasn't exactly been allowing to them having high possession games.

Good to see we went more man on man in the 2nd qtr, looked much better and should be in front at half time.

Need more from Lang and Kennedy.

Good to see the kids show something.

Liked Marchbank's game. Weitering settling back into what is expected.

Murph and Cripps have been rippers.

No injuries!!!!! Now to keep it up in the 2nd half. In with a chance.

Sounds like the conditions are very slippery which may be impacting skills execution so I won't go on about that. I thought we tightened up our defence in that second quarter, improved our contested possessions and began to control the midfield, although I think we still trail the clearances. Our problem atm is F50 entries which are not great and we can't capitalise on our dominance here. Hope it doesn't turn out to cost us the win!

It may even be true, but it would be disaster for their coach, and probably a number of players.
Besides, how can they play worse than we have been? We've been playing a VFL set of players!

Just a few more seconds.....

A few seconds more and McKays after the siren dribble goal counts.

....but he'll still get the confidence boost from breaking away from his opponent on the wing and slotting one after he couldn't be caught.....even if the siren beat him, his opponent couldn't.
I'll take that.

GC are crap, and they may well be tanking, but we need all the self belief we can get.

Loving the scoreline currently.

Campbell brown on Pick a Winner picked us to win.

I'll take it !

I wouldn't have believed it after terminating the Swans in Sydney last week, but who knows?

Does Lobbe get another contract on the back of tonight?
Still reckon he's 3rd in line....but a senior ruckman who can play is a necessity IMHO.

Probably would just for the fact he's had to play out of necessity.

Rowe got thrown to the ground (legally) for an easy mark to May 10m out from goal. May gave him a spray while on sat on his butt too.

Weitering and May big collision.
Weiters injured. Leg i think

One of the most courageous things I’ve seen in a long time. Going in blind when you know may is coming and in an angry mood.

Please please footy gods don’t let that be an acl.

Guys on the radio are going on about Weitering's bravery.

Was certainly brave. Went back with the flight knowing he'd get cleaned up.....and he did.

The big fella May was slow to get up too.

But Weitering left leg got collected and wrapped around the body of may mid-air.

Limped off under the help of 2 trainers and straight into the rooms. Don't think its a break, most likely a knee - medial.

Worst thing about this is that Weitering was starting to get some confidence back. Every time he gets his confidence up he gets injured....and he takes longer and longer to return from these injuries - mentally. Not what he needed right now.

Curnow down the rooms with a left shoulder injury.

Reckon it was from May about 20 mins ago when he got collected in a tackle and driven into the ground. Don't think its too bad if that is the incident.

Patrick Cripps 38 possessions, 6 marks and 11 tackles!
Marc Murphy: 36 possessions, 7 marks and 4 tackles!

And in the end they did get help!

64 more possessions at a higher rate of efficiency.
