Robert Heatley Stand / Re: AFL Rd 23 2023 In Game Angst Carlton vs Gold Coast
And to be honest I’d rather we have to fight and grind this win than recline in the deckchairs, as long as we win !
I do not want to be in a must win next week !
What would we even worse, is if the Giants lose to the Injectors. Then they'll be more desperate and have more to play for. For once, go Collingwood next week. They can have their "minor" premiership, Essendon to miss out on September, then rinse and repeat their famous form in September.

Don't shoot the messenger when I say this please. But I was thinking about what Paul Keating said more than 30 years ago. I am looking at the scoreboard early and I said to myself "It was the loss we had to have". Eight in a row, I was thinking our fellas are tired. Like I said earlier, this is not an easy trip or a walkover, especially on their turf.
But to their credit, this has been a great fightback. I reckon this will go down to the wire. Double chance (more in theory than in practice) or a home elimination final is still on the cards to play for.

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: AFL Rd 23 2023 Pre Game Prognostications Carlton vs Gold Coast at Gold Coast
We've won up there. We were the first team to beat them there in 2011, by over 100. It's just a coincidence that this year has been our best season since then.
Recently, however, our record there has not been so bright. The Suns are also much improved this year, despite their ladder position, but especially much more at Metricon, where the home fans have had a lot of reasons to smile this year. We can't be off our game here. Slim, slim chances of a double chance fourth spot or at worst, a home elimination final, rests on finishing the year with Ws. It's still been an amazing run of late to see in any case. Now bring it home boys and give yourselves the best shot you can in September.

How long have I been a supporter? I was talked in to it as a kid. I have a large family where my mother is one of six siblings. She also goes for Carlton and several others did too. It was during the 1990s. The good times before the dark storms of this century and milennium. Fortunately they're going away.
All-time favourite player? Craig Bradley. 21 has been a mighty number for this great club.
Issues in the next two years? I see a flag window, but for how long? Tightness in the salary cap as well. Depth, a great thing, at long last. Who is in and who is out?
