Robert Heatley Stand / Re: Rd 19: Carlton vs Freo: Pre Game Panic
Cripps has had an injury riddled year..would prefer they 'rest' him in the twos rather than have him aggravate anything prior to the all important Utah ski trip (aka the preseason). Blood him next year after he has bulked up a bit.

Can't wait for Raonic to take it up to Djocko tomorrow night. Took him to 3 sets 2 weeks ago. If the Canadian has his huge serve wound up it could be a real contest. Not considered in the big league yet, and needs a win v Djocko on the big stage to be taken as a serious contender.

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: Northern Blues vs. Coburg this Sat on TV
I'd like to see Watson played across half forward. Persisting with him in the backline for years now has been a complete and utter disaster. Has a golden boot and the club is crying out for anyone who can hit the side of a barn from outside 50m.

Bootsma is just a waste of space...that chip kick to the Coburg player 30m directly in front...EEEEEkk !

Cripps is the future but I'd be leaving him in the 2nds this year. He needs to get through the season without the physical punishment of the seniors. Getting a full pre-season into him is a must.

Giles not sure...did look exposed and will need all of 2 years to start showing any key position ability. A keeper at this stage.

Johnson & Holman showed something, but there is a question mark on Graham - not sure he has the polish to cover the lack of legspeed.

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: R2 Richmond V Carlton - Prematch
I'd prefer to have Bell stay in team. Physicality &  Intimidation must be employed at some point...otherwise Cotchin and his cohorts will run riot. Bell has lead with his shoulder at the Richmond midfield in the past to good effect.

Watson pinch hitting across CHF would also be worth a go. Drag Chaplin outside 50, and send a few booming left footers through the goals & into the dejected cretins in the Richmond cheersquad!

Shuffle the pack Mick!

Beat me to it Carrots.....I only listened to the call on the radio....The flying doormat (saddlecloth #11) had to be attended to by the vet pre-race (may have reared going into barriers?) although was eventually cleared to run. He settled towards the rear, worked forward, unleashed a burst at the 300m...hit the lead and appeared home but was swamped over the last 80m.. Hung on for 3rd place. Good effort. Paid $3.60 for the place.

'The Flying Doormat' has his first race start in a Geelong maiden today. By King of roses out of D'Amico. Great sense of humour there. Part-owned by an 'A.Lee'. Good luck to Andy and the Princess Park syndicate.  A win (or at least a top 4 finish) would be a good omen for the club.

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: Poll added: Marc Murphy should not be captain
No point trying to 'craft' Murphy (or Hendo/Kruezer for that matter) into a leader. Let's try a left field appointment similar to Sticks in '86. Charlie Dixon appeals as a charismatic warrior...capable of imposing himself in a variety of roles.

Roughead-like in stature and mobility, he has courage in bucketloads and a 10+ year career ahead of him.

Dixon would be the pillar to plug the Centre-half forward post, allowing Hendo to patrol the flanks exclusively. Is a proven goal kicker, has great hands and most importantly has the brilliance to split a game wide open. Gets the odd injury, but from what I've seen he recovers quickly asserts himself immediately on the scoresheet 'first up' on his return.

It's imperative that Carlton trades for a quality dominant marking target during the off-season, particularly given Casboult is not top shelf.

I'd like to see Mick get this guy in and size him up for the captaincy. He might not be affordable in a year or two when he becomes the focal point of the Suns finals aspirations.
