Well, I'm excited.
Anyone know whether it's going to be streamed, televised or the like?
Go Baggers!

I'm pretty sure it isn't on TV, although it is getting considerable interest. 6 quarters will be played.
What's the difference between quarters of "match simulation" and "game scenarios"???
What's the difference between quarters of "match simulation" and "game scenarios"???
There will be a game scenario for each team whereby one team might be 2 goals up with three minutes to go. What does each team do .... and then reverse it.
I'm going down to watch this praccy match, is anyone else likely to be there?!

Not easy to tell if a team actually 'wins' or not. Nichevo. I'll get there if I can.
I also doubt that there will be a program: working out who is who may be interesting.
1st qtr, Carlton are fielding a 'senior' team plus Walsh!
No Kreuzer, McG or McKay.
There seems to be some clips about, is there a webcam running?

I miss the footy.
I miss the footy.
same here. it's much nicer when we're bagging out the opposition than our forum buddies...
Sounds like we are pounding the cr^p out of Collingwood. Pity I'm not there! :(
Twitter has each qtr scored individually. Maybe it's like a tennis match and we lead 3 sets to love....lol.
All up I work out we finish 36pts ahead at the end of 4 x 25 min/4 x 10 min terms.
Just got back from the game.
Should be read with a grain of salt considering first hit out for the year but they were pretty fair dinkum in the first 3 qtrs.
At 3/4 time we led 12.6 to 4.3. Then we rested some key players and let Rottingwood back into the game... a bit. We played all our kids for the final 2 qtrs... to avoid confusion, yes, 3 x 1/4s of 25 minutes and 2 x 10 minutes without time on.
No SPS, Martin, H, Brackets, Marchbank, Fisher, Charlie, Tractor, Macreadie, Ben Sos or Goddard... not sure on Cottrell.
The best news of the day for moi was the form of Willo... dominant and outstanding across half back.
Doc eased his way into the game nicely.
Eddie was... well, Eddie. Great stuff from him. Kicked about 3 and could have easily kicked another couple. Warmed the cockles... our forward line looks so much more dangerous with him there.
Meat was very good.
Jack was good, took him a bit to get into the game though.
Paddy Dow started in the 4th qtr and was so so.
Murph played the first 3 qtrs and was rusty but involved. Coupla turnovers didn't impress. At his age I guess he's easing himself into the year.
LOB ...still not convinced.
Simmo... is he really in his late 30s... was like a kid. Good value, good judgement.
Kennedy up forward... not convinced. Coupla nice things but...
Crippa... in 3rd gear for the game and still head and shoulder above the rest.
De Koning is going to be de sheet hot.
Stocker... long way to go.
Jones... great.
Walsh... sensational, doubt there'll be any 2nd year blues here.
Plowman, serviceable.
Weitering injured early and didn't take any further part in the game. Groin or hip?
Newman, serviceable.
Liked what I saw of Pittonet, got attitude and did okay.
Cuningham was same old... flashes of good stuff, then tumbleweeds.
Polson... yawn.
Newnes, liked what I saw. Better than serviceable.
Philp, liked what I saw... positive glimpses.
Ed... was Ed, hard at it and influential.
This Honey kid might just have something!
Finbar... someone is taking the p1ss.
Gibbons... terrific, in everything and effective until rested after 3rd qtr.
Setterfield... coming along nicely.
Owies... need to see more, but good glimpses.
My only real negative for the day (apart from Finbar and Polson and pies at $6 ea) was Lang...
I'm hearing Weitering was injured, didn't come back after quarter time. Anyone have any news?
Ps I don't know who 47 was for us but I really liked what I saw... real presence.

Happened in the first qtr and appeared to be groin/hip. Hopefully just a niggle and not risked for the remainder.
Woops, forgot no. 48 (Sturgess??), who was impressive down back.

Weitering's ok apparently.
Ch.7 was saying 8 terms with a few at 10 mins. They probably got it wrong again.
Thanks for the nice summary.
Thanks for the wrap Shano. Despite the usual qualifications one's mind starts to make (were the opp even trying, it's just a scratch match etc.), it's hard not to feel a twinge of excitement.
Summary
@ Baggers
Thanks for the report Champion, much appreciated.
Dissappointing to here Cunners is same old same old
Polson meh
Lang will play alot of 2s this year then will be delisted, I have said from day one he is not AFL standard. He seems disinterested, suspect he still wishes he was at KP.
Did Ben Silvagni play?

Did Ben Silvagni play?
I don't think he did.
Also a comprehensive report on the club website. (Ben apparently did play)
Three highlights for me (not being there!)
Sam Philps. Every report I have seen has been very, very positive.
Tom Williamson. Again nothing but praise for his efforts.
Sam Docherty. Just a good news story.
Interesting that Newnes named second best for us, but barely a mention on twitter feed
Highlight package showed Willo kick a booming set shot goal, has a great left peg. Cant help but drool at the class he and Doc will add if they can be injury free.

GTC, he let loose with a few of them with pin point accuracy... we BlueBaggers watching him from only a few metres away, well, we drooled... the first qtr had loads of highlights (for us) but chief among them was Willo and Eddie. Easily the best first up hit out I've seen from us for years... BUT, it is February, BUT it was fkn great spanking Rottingwood for the first three 'serious' qtrs.

I liked what I saw. Kept on trying to find out who this 32 character was... don't worry, he influenced, positively, the contest.

Sorry, can't help you with Ben. 37 didn't feature in what I saw but I did leave 10 minutes before the finish... they ran out of pies!!!!!
Mate, if you'd seen Lang today you'd have driven him to KP... one way. I was disappointed in him after reports of him training so well, but in the heat he c0cked up just about everything that came near him. Maybe he was given a defensive role... on himself!!!! He succeeded.

I was banging on about trying to recruit him for most of last year. I got my wish.
My take on him and what he could do for the side was relatively simple. He is a 'set and forget' type player. Turns up, does whats expected and moves on to next week. Albeit in a different role, its something like what Nick Newman or Ed Curnow offers us. You might not notice him much but at the end of the day he has his 20 touches and was not beaten. Get 22 of them and you win more games than you lose. With the amount of kids we have, we could use a few more 'set and forget' types.

I agree with that, with a slight twist. 20 good solid players (with some stars sprinkled in of course), and a couple of spots for the kids to fight over. Then it's up to the developing players in the 2's to force out the experienced heads. It only took a couple of good inclusions to round out the list. It will be nice to have some good developing kids in the 2's playing together, where they belong until they're ready. Fingers crossed we just get a fair run with injuries.

Willo has been my favourite since we drafted him. I saw his first training session and there was just something about the way he moved that struck a cord with me. He is a footballer WITH athleticism. He is beautifully balanced, has great vision and does not panic in traffic or when the heat is on. Doesnt take crap either. Love him.
Ben SOS, Goddard & Cotrell all played in the 5th & 6th qtrs.
Willo is all class, a little rusty, but that will soon disappear.... a huge future ahead of him.
Great to see Doc and Eddie back and both doing what they do best, both showed good form.
Philp in the 1st & 2nd qtr looked lost and gassed the times i noticed him, his 3rd qtr was quite impressive though. Definitely something to work with.
DeKoning also impressed me, reads the ball well in the air, and took several good marks, very promising signs.
Overall, i was very impressed with the team defense, and scoring 4 goals in each of the 1st 3 (serious) qtrs showed promising signs for our offense as well.
For a 1st hit out for the season it was quite pleasing, and always good to beat the Pies!
#GoBlues
Thanks for the reports guys.
I know it's only a practice match, but we won.
Sounds like Doc, Willo, Newnes, and Eddy could make a huge difference if they stay fit.
Note the difference in our backline this year when we have a genuine distributor (Willo) and a genuine general (a la Hodge) in Doc. Keep them on the park, Mr Russell!!
We're not gonna be the easybeats other teams might have assumed. Practice match or not, there's more than a few signs of revival. Great review of the game by the way.
Betts will create some chaos. Other perennial wastes of time (Lang for one) will not
Glimmers of hope here and there, but caution needs to be taken when viewing anything that is labelled as pre-season!
Only concern for me is Weiters.
If he plays again before the real deal I'll be happy, if we do not see him again in the pre-season I'll be very concerned as I won't know what to make of his not serious injury.
We were ahead by 9 goals at one point....some great signs from the younger crop.

Couldnt agree more on TW, vital player given how timid we are and that left leg is a weapon, going to put some real heat on our other regular defenders too. They cant all play and its going to make competition tight for places which is how you build a decent team. Good to see Kruddlers man Newnes start well too, reckon he is another who should lift standards and be a lock for round 1.
Collingwood might have a indifferent year IMO due to a variety of reasons including off the field issues.

Very good signs from the younger blokes.
There will be improvement from players like SPS, Jack. Fisher, Dow, Cottrell, Gibbins, O'Brien , and others as they get a few more games under the belt.
Did Martin get a gig?
Our rookies impress me more than some of the fringe players on our list like Lang, ODwyer etc. Sturgess isn't doing his case any harm.
Did Martin get a gig?
....................
No, he didn't play.

What? After all the PS hype a no show?
Not sure exactly why. Watching Dale Amos he didn't really elaborate too much. Maybe just a fatigue / fitness issue.
Read elsewhere that Martin and Fisher had heavy training loads recently and were rested from the practice match

Lots of extra gym sessions trying to get them to bulk up ? Both scrawny as.
Tom De Koning looks very impressive and seems ready to go.

You speaking about Willo reminds me of my thoughts on someone from xmas past.....
I've always had my doubts that Willo might be kept off the park, not through talent or athleticism but by outside forces - that is, his body letting him down.
Previously there was a 'lock' that was kept of the park not through talent or athleticism but by outside forces - Attitude/off-field issues.
That player.....Laurie Angwin.
I can't agree more about how impressive Willo was. PS and all but his confidence, poise, and read on the game give him an edge. So hope he stays healthy.
Phelps showed a glimpse. Great if he can develop in the NB's. Honey was the surprise for me. His aggression stood out. Maybe in future Honey and Stocker will deliver the "don't f%$ with me" message at either end. We could do with that!
Early days with some good signs. Hope Mr Russell does his job. Injuries permitting, we could surprise a few people.

What? After all the PS hype a no show?
Keep your powder dry, El Profissory... he just finished a heavy fitness load. Likely for the Dockers game on the 29th. All going to plan.
Very nice to read about Honey and Philp.
I know I mentioned it previously but I was impressed with Philp. He's got something, Capt Crash.

Agree in part. The Beams issue is quite specific though and they will get that under control one way or another. It wont detail their season. Are there other issues there? Am I missing something?

Very happy to hear Barker state they are allowing De Koning to develop naturally, no more artificial acceleration!
Although this might be in direct conflict with the Liddle philosophy!
