@Dave Agree, "intimidating" is not a word that springs to mind with our blokes, apart from maybe Robbo when he's fired up. I think there was some sort of conscious effort v. the Saints to change that but it sure don't come naturally.
Hopefully MM can inject more of this quality into the team, both with existing players and via the trade table.
Watson certainly has to stake his claim today to his spot in the team. With a good performance he could begin to convince the powers that be that he is one serious solution to our key defender needs. Convincing people on here will be a lot harder for him of course. Go Watto!
I'm just hoping that Laidler is being kept in reserve for later this year or maybe on the back burner for next year. I'd be amazed if MM has passed judgement and stamped his papers already.
Yes I think MM will have the boys very focussed on just getting a win, even if it's only by a couple of goals. I'm expecting us to be very tight and measured and hopefully maintaining this for 4Qs.
I like MM's philosophy "it's my way or the highway!" Any player who has a problem with what he wants to do and how he wants to do it will not be there sooner or later, and will be replaced with more willing people.
This is what we've needed for a long time - break up the cliques, break up the nests of favourites, clear out the white ants. Seen it many times over my career in the corporate world - leaders who don't do this fail.
For me Robbo was the stand out - he will come back in for sure. I would also give Graham a run too. Must not go up there with one iota of complacency, this is definitely "a danger game".
Are you suggesting we have too many "softies" RR ??
Just suggesting that Mick is trying to address a few shortcomings and might be having some effect.
I totally agree with this observation - I was at the game on Friday (I know I vowed not to go) and I think MM's influence is becoming noticeable in our approach and unwillingness to be intimidated physically - despite our fade-out in the game which I think showed up our lack of real fitness.
Mitch interviewed going off the ground at 1/2 time, great attitude and loving the conditions. Said that being hard at it has to happen at both 2s and 1s.
I think that the players that are being selected on a regular basis will be unlikely to go unless a very very good trade deal is available that truly advantages us.
IMO we would want an established and well performed KPF or KPD in return for Yazz if we decided to reduce the 3 amigos to 2.
