Title: 2018 VFL Rd 4: Northern Blues vs Port Melbourne
Post by: crashlander on April 26, 2018, 11:52:08 am
Game on Saturday at 1400 at Preston.
Port have started well enough, but hopefully we can show something after our bye.

Silvagni will miss this week and probably next week.

Lang and Kennedy will be available. I hope they play them both at this level.
Kreuzer is sort of available but probably won't play. That will leave De Koning as the #1 ruckman.

Good luck to Darcy Lang. May you get 30 plus and kick 6 snags.

Not so long as we have Shorty Milham.

Not so long as we have Shorty Milham.

Most forum members have little idea of the guys playing at NB who are not connected to Carlton.

For posters who are not aware Milham was the tall thin ruckmen formerly at CheatsFC Norther Division (VFL), he's probably 100kg but given he is about the same height as Sandilands he looks stick thin, at least he did last season as I have not sighted him this year. I thought he did OK last year before being injured, training with Lobbe and Kreuzer should really help him develop.

Is Schumacher or Macreadie anywhere near an AFL game? They both seem to be going ok.

Based on tonight’s performance by the 1sts, who are we looking to have a break out ‘you must pick me’ game.

We need nick Graham to kick on and become an afl footballer.

Beyond him the cupboard is well and truly bare.

We are in all sorts if cripps breaks down again.

Nick Graham wont ever make it....
Agree on Cripps, lose him and we will be slaughtered every week...

I'm with you on Graham. Good vfl player with a great attitude. Unfortunately that's not enough in this era.

x 3.

In that side the guys who I would have thought might have aspirations of getting a call-up to the firsts next week on the back of a good game are:

Cuningham - he has pace
Macreadie - he's not O'Shea
Shaw - he's not Mullett
Lang - he's AFL quality
Garlett - all the above but he needs to show some intensity
Kerr - probably neither ready nor the modern footballer nor what we need up forward, but (and it pans me to say this) "he's not JSOS"
Lamb - at least knows what defensive pressure is as a small forward
Le Bois - quick, defensive pressure, in good run of form (for the first time)
Graham - mature body but slow and not the future
Polson - has pace but looked well off AFL quality when given the chance earlier this year

A season or two in the gym for De Koning and I think we might have a player. Lang going ok, Garlett quiet, 6:6 to 8:10 at half time. We’re down.

Unfortunately, Kerr is not screaming out to be noticed, Graham is accumulating like he always does, not a lot to get over excited about.

Five goals to one in the third quarter and that's all she wrote folks, NB's well beaten.
Three goals to Jesse Palmer, if he's not on our list is it too late to sign him?

Lang looks in good shape for a player coming off a long break.

Is there any point in trying Graham as a small forward in the seniors?   He has good  goal sense and can tackle, plus offer some on ball minutes.   We're not exactly flush with small forward options right now.

Nope..forget Graham, rather play Lang ,Lebois.....losing Pickett has hurt and dropping Garlett was dumb......
I had a silly idea of playing Simpson down there given he is turning it over down back....?
