Robert Heatley Stand / Re: Rd 10: Post Game Prattle: Carlton vs North Melbourne
Just got back from the game. Greats seats... the usually sedate Mrs Baggers was ready to kill the umps by the midway mark of the 2nd qtr!

I love it when we get the chance to go to a game as you get to see who's working hard off the ball. Sumner showed glimpses and probably deserves another chance, but, sheesh, he'd want to make the most of that one.

Casboult was on a hiding to nothing being the only tall marking target up forward. SOJ has to make way for a Mackay, Jones or Kerr.

Don't think we had the experience to newbie ratio correct. Macreadie for Rowe didn't work and neither did Sumner for Thomas. In hindsight Boekhorst or Armfield would have been better replacements for Thomas.

Positives:-

The comeback from 45 pts down.

Gibbs was sensational as a player and leader on the ground helping to wake us up in the second qtr. No way we let him go to Adelaide at year's end.

C Curnow is a ripper and will only get better... has attitude and intensity and legit ability. Works hard.

Willo rapidly becoming the recruit of the year for us, closely followed by Marchbank.

ACOS is a rock in defense and won't stand for a team mate being badly treated. Leadership written all over him. Must be promoted to senior list.

Tractor Kreuzer created so many opportunities. The best big man on the ground by a mile. Sensational.

Docherty becoming a real general down back, makes a couple of mistakes from time to time but will take over from Simmo when the time is right.

Plowman did some very, very important things. Growing.

Some very exciting cameos from Cuningham.

Crippa.

Matty Wright does so much hard stuff off the ball, best thing we've gotten from SA in a long time.

Negatives:
First qtr and a half umpiring.

Our mistakes. Gee we gave the Kangabies some easy goals.

When we got in front it was like we cr@pped ourselves and didn't know how to press on... you could sense it at the ground. Our pressure and commitment and intensity had the Wallaroos on the ropes. I don't think it was tiredness but rather a lack of killer instinct. You could palpably see us slow once we had the lead... this is between the ears stuff.

Weitering. Half the player he was last year. If his name was Smith and he was pick 77 he'd probably be rested.

SOJ. As for Weits. If his surname wasn't Silvagni would he be getting a game? Many folks there were asking the same question at the game. Couple of young girls cracked it that anyone could question SOJ... sorry, but his strengths at present are work rate and for the marketing dept. No-one works harder but he's just not impacting the game enough.

Cuningham's work off the ball. Just too slack.

Samo does some amazing things but is fumbling too much and not hurting the opposition enough. Links well. He and ZF (and probably SOJ and Weits) need some NBs time.

Murph wasn't his usual self. Couple of very costly clangers.

(at one stage our clanger count was 5 times the number of Wallaroo errors.)

Aaawwww, what a cutie, David. And, yep, a home aint a home without a furry critter or 3 keeping an eye on things.

We're now doing exactly the same thing, moving out of the city to a more relaxed country area, and the first thing I do when checking out any potential new home is to check out the fencing!

Good luck, mate. We're off to check out Ridgeback breeders in two weeks... love ridgys. And what does Mrs Baggers want as a companion to the ridgy? A Wolfhound  :o

I like Sumner, always have. I hope he can get a decent crack, stay injury free and get some continuity by playing week in week out. The kid can seriously play and has some tricks.

Agree. Had a late/slow start to the season, with another early set back during a pre season game. But his last two weeks showed glimpses of what he is capable of.

Surprised Macreadie got the nod ahead of White. Even in the summaries of each VFL players game last week according to Josh, White got wraps whereas Macreadie not so much and that's what I also saw. So now we know that blokes aren't selected on form alone... if they're young and their form is not bad they get a gig, if they're older they'll need a few BOGs to get a gig.

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: Round 9 Green Shoot of the Week
I may be over generous but is it possible that he was spent at the time and not capable of chasing effectively?

I don't recall his involvement immediately before that incident.

Your loyalty to anyone pulling on the navy blue is bloody brilliant. But, yep, over generous IMHO on this occasion. If he's spent in the third qtr, then he's in trouble. Just slack on his behalf. The first year blokes were showing him up -- especially considering fewer rotations -- for gut busting efforts.

But please don't mistake my criticism for writing off the kid or being too harsh on him or having it in for him... no way, love to see him burn it up. Just p1sses me off seeing talent to burn attached to a seeming inability to maintain intensity - he's well into his 2nd year now. What he showed in the first qtr was really good, so much so I named him as my green shoot of the week based on that effort... but what followed from him had me questioning whether he was the green shoot of the week... especially when you look at first year blokes like Willo's efforts throughout the game, and ZF throwing his 11 kilos around in desperation and Samo racking up 10 tackles...

Some blokes do have a problem with maintaining concentration/focus/intensity but they soon learn... or they'll find themselves back in a more comfortable league/level of footy.

Cunners needs game time to adjust to speed of the game. Only poised type players can pick up the speed quickly he is more of a power mid and will be harder for him to adjust. If he comes good will be excellent for us. Here's hoping he just turned 20 time is on his side to put it together

Yep, there's no doubting he has all the tricks, but we can't excuse allowing an opponent to run off like that. That's ill-disciplined and I hope is not indicative of poor concentration/attitude issue. I bet BB/other coaches and players tore him a newy over that non-effort. All the first year blokes are already showing him up for commitment and effort. Hopefully the penny drops for the kid, and soon.

Blah-Blah Bar / Re: Trumpled (Alternative Leading)
By the way, as much as Trump would like to focus on Iran, the Shi'ites aren't likely to bomb us.  Al Qaeda and ISIS are Sunni extremists.  The Saudis have a long connection to Wahabi extremists.  But when Trump bows down to the Saudi king, there's no chance he'll tell them to pull their heads in.

Exactly. Any wonder the Saudi's look so happy having Trump in their pocket... now, what will the Democrats, some Republicans and 'fake' media do with that. The image of Trump at the Israeli wall must have sickened many Muslims...

Trump is living proof that bullsh1t will baffle brains. But only for so long... When will the Democrats realise that they shouldn't attack Trump personally but rather attribute everything he does, publicly, to the Republicans... Clueless pr1cks are being sucked into the Trump approach.

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: Goaltracker
If this list ticks over any slower it'll be going backwards!

Exactly my reaction too, Spotted One. This is not really keeping pace with the natural progression that you'd reasonably expect. At this rate our desire to recruit a marquis player will not be realised as no-one will want to come to the good ship CFC... when others around us are progressing faster, offering finals footy sooner and are also cashed up.

On a positive note, when I watched last Sunday's game again the overwhelming sense was that we're not far off.... but... we still lack a ruthless streak and there will be no evidence of that until we actually belt a side, win  by 50 pts plus. These boys need a big win.
