Blah-Blah Bar / Re: Trumpled (Alternative Leading)
By the way, as much as Trump would like to focus on Iran, the Shi'ites aren't likely to bomb us.  Al Qaeda and ISIS are Sunni extremists.  The Saudis have a long connection to Wahabi extremists.  But when Trump bows down to the Saudi king, there's no chance he'll tell them to pull their heads in.

Exactly. Any wonder the Saudi's look so happy having Trump in their pocket... now, what will the Democrats, some Republicans and 'fake' media do with that. The image of Trump at the Israeli wall must have sickened many Muslims...

Trump is living proof that bullsh1t will baffle brains. But only for so long... When will the Democrats realise that they shouldn't attack Trump personally but rather attribute everything he does, publicly, to the Republicans... Clueless pr1cks are being sucked into the Trump approach.

If this list ticks over any slower it'll be going backwards!

Exactly my reaction too, Spotted One. This is not really keeping pace with the natural progression that you'd reasonably expect. At this rate our desire to recruit a marquis player will not be realised as no-one will want to come to the good ship CFC... when others around us are progressing faster, offering finals footy sooner and are also cashed up.

On a positive note, when I watched last Sunday's game again the overwhelming sense was that we're not far off.... but... we still lack a ruthless streak and there will be no evidence of that until we actually belt a side, win  by 50 pts plus. These boys need a big win.

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: 2017 Rd 10: Pre Game Palaver: Carlton vs North Melbourne
So let me start by saying I cant stand Terry Wallet. I was listening to SEN tonight and he does a segment where by he goes into a club and sits on match committee meetings. When it came to Carlton, he talked about Rowe going down. He suggested to try something left field by putting Weitering on a wing and Jones down back. His theory is that:
- JW is a great reader of the play
- JW is a big body and is fairly athletic
- JW intercepts the footy extremely well
Wallet reckons he would become an asset btw HB and HF along the wings and would compliment our other big bodies in Cripps, Curnow etc.
I dont know if this is crazy or genius, its certainly left field alright and it may just make things very intersting. Thoughts?

Perhaps I shouldn't admit this but I actually find myself very interested in TWs insights. He was one of the few commentators last year after we'd won four on the trot to predict that the Aints would take us apart. And the reasons he gave were spot on.

Weits to a wing? My only knock on that would be that he aint the fastest bloke over the grass... however, I wonder if TW was isolating the fact that we have very poor penetration and delivery into our F50 and Weits might be an excellent link to setting up and delivering meaningful forward thrusts, and would be difficult to stop.

Haha, it's nice to see you give him the nod. Like many, I really hope he can begin to put it all together, over 4 qtrs. If he can we will have a very good player. He's a point of difference to many of our other mids in qualities and style of play as well.

Yep, liked his first qtr, Amers Old Son. But I have to add that his failing to man up in the 3rd qtr was a disgrace and somewhat typical - watched his opponent run off him and he just jogged after him through the middle, no pressure no attitude and guess who was the next link in the handball chain resulting in a D1ckers inside 50, yep, the bloke Cuningham looked at and just allowed to keep running unchecked. I reckon that's his issue, he's either on and doing well or a lazy little pr1ck. Deserves to be dropped for that one super slack non-effort.

I was content with Cunningham's effort - looked better than he has looked in the VFL

CCurnow suffered with Weitering playing in defence, which meant that Charlie was matched up by a better opponent.

Totally agree. Pleasantly surprised with Cuningham. I thought his work in tight early was sure and effective - good hands; good decisions. He faded but had plenty of mates.

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: 2017 Rd 9; Pre Game Preparations: Carlton vs Fremantle
I just don't get why week after week the odds are so poor for a Carlton victory, it's like the bookmakers and media have ignored recent form and are sticking to the pre-season predictions.

Suspect it has a lot to do with our inability to score. Even when we lose we tend to hold opponents to modest scores... BrisVegas, Dawks and us share awful %. Maybe today we can turn it around with many inside 50s and a big score, we'll need it to beat the D1ckers.

Good luck to Cunners really like him as a player. Reminds me of Dangerfield in some passages of his play in Dangers early years 2009... AFL world didnt really take notice of Danger untill late 2010 early 2011 as a 21 year old. Cunners just needs that one game where the footy world stands up and says "will be a good player" I think he is close so good luck to him.

WOw! Big call likening Cuningham to an early Dangerfield. Hope you're right but I've seen precious little from him to suggest he's a future Dangerfield. Danger has some mongrel about him and has always had an obsessive love of the contest... Cuningham seems rather timid when it comes to putting his body on the line, and that's not to mention his terrible inconsistency. When things go right for him, he can ran and carry very, very nicely but it's so infrequent. As I say, I hope I'm very wrong and have to eat loads of humble pie.

Didn't realize that Jones' efforts were against Josh Bruce. Bruce can play and would be dangerous in even a weak side. Only adds to LJ's credibility from this effort.

He tore Bruce a newy. Not only, as Ye Rat O' the River pointed out, did he beat Bruce but would frequently leave him to help out in other contests and invariably impact that contest in some way.

With all the Jones love, which is richly deserved, I temper my enthusiasm with the fact that he aint playing seniors and showing this great form at the highest level. But, damn, he couldn't play any better at seconds level and it would be unfair for him not to be promoted... though the injury he got just a few minutes from the end of yesterday's game might end any promotion speculation. Hope it's not serious. He's only just turned 26 so there's still plenty of footy in him.

Thoughts of trading Rowe, sorry, but I think there's no chance. He's not perfect but he's a bloody rock down back.

Looking at the highlights... fair to say the opposition was abysmal?

Our blokes doing well regardless obviously but Sandy looked bloody aweful.

The dangers of highlights Jeza. Sandy were good. They were hard at it, especially in the first when they set up their lead. They came out breathing fire in the third... nuh, our boys pressured them into errors and we were just better. Credit given where it is due, Sandy are no mugs. The win is very credible due to a terrific, disciplined team effort. We overran them in the last but that was due, simply, to sustained pressure. Hardly a passenger.
